Bulgaria’s prime security provider SOT chooses Winsted for Control Room furniture project

Control Room furniture developer Winsted has been chosen to equip a stunning new Control Room on behalf of Bulgaria’s leading security provider SOT 161.

Specialising in the delivery of a highly professional and focused range of security services, SOT is Bulgaria’s largest security provider. The company’s 4,500 security staff protect more than 85,000 sites across the country, all of which are managed centrally from the National Operations Centre in Sofia.

The National Operations Centre runs on a 24/7, 365 days a year basis and monitors the assets of numerous companies and properties, including Embassy residencies, Government buildings, banks, High Street stores, sports facilities, hotels, car dealerships, offices and ATMs.

SOT realised that the company’s staff had to be able to operate effectively in the Control Room as this is a major factor when it comes to influencing the response time and outcome of incidents. An ergonomic solution was a must.

Winsted was invited to provide ideas for the Control Rooms’ furniture requirements and duly produced computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and colour renders giving a complete visualisation of the project.

While great importance was given to workstations having an optimum ergonomic design, the use of space and aesthetics were also important considerations in selecting the correct console design and space layout for the Control Room.

Winsted proposed and delivered a solution based on a Prestige Sight-Line console, with a stand-alone M-View media wall selected for its modern aesthetics within a contemporary environment. Console design allows for 19” rack-mounted electronic equipment, while Winsted’s Versa-Trak display mounting system affords ergonomic comfort and ‘adjustability’.

Combined with VESA-compliant brackets, Versa-Trak has enabled screens to be easily attached and provides horizontal and vertical adjustability for optimal viewing angles and sight lines for the operating staff.

Also incorporated into the console design is an enhanced cable management system consisting of a large dual-cable raceway hidden inside the console, in turn keeping all cables hidden from view but easily accessible.

“The aim of the new Control Room was to create a solution that meets current requirements while at the same time affording flexibility for future extension needs,” commented Darren Allen, Winsted’s European sales manager. “Combined with the modern interior, the console design really does give the space a ‘wow’ factor.”

Winsted expands UK operations with move to new Bromsgrove headquarters

CCTV Control Room furniture manufacturer Winsted has announced a move to new premises at Bromsgrove in Worcestershire. An increase in export sales and high profile project wins – involving organisation including Yokogawa, Samsung, Google, HP and HSBC – have led the company to expand the size of its UK operations.

Since its inception in 1984 the company has been located in Droitwich, a small Spa town north of Worcester. However, across the last four years the company has seen tremendous growth in sales across Europe and the Middle East while, in 2013, the company was honoured to receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade (the highest accolade for any UK business) for the second consecutive year.

The move brings Winsted to a new development conveniently situated in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire near Junction 1 of the M42 motorway. This affords excellent access and links to all major roads, rail and air transportation hubs. Importantly, the new facility gives the organisation almost double the amount of space when compared with its previous base, which will not only facilitate more stock holding of standard product lines but also allow for a controlled growth programme.

Commenting on the move, Terry Shough (Winsted’s general manager) told Risk UK: “The move to larger premises reflects our strong performance to date. We are excited about the move which will allow us to serve our clients even better, support our staff and give us room to expand further in the future.”

Shough continued: “Quite simply, we outgrew our existing premises. We were fortunate to find such a nice space close to our current office. We really wanted to limit the impact that relocation could have on our clients and our employees, though, and I don’t think we could have found a better location for our team. Our new location and enhanced operational efficiencies will help us continue to grow and evolve to keep pace with our clients’ needs, allowing us to provide exceptional value and superior service along the way.”

Since its inception in 1963, Winsted has consistently pioneered console design and development. The company’s product concept and design is driven by industry needs and demands, with many equipped ideas suggested by customers and developed with their input.

A dominant force in the US markets for 50 years, Winsted expanded into overseas markets in 1975 and, in 1976, began concentrated efforts to establish distribution in the Middle East.

Winsted’s international distribution was firmly established in 1984 with the formation of Winsted Ltd in the UK. Since then, Winsted Ltd has become a design and manufacturing facility serving the European, Middle East and African markets.

With an ever-expanding global network of distributors, Winsted is in an excellent position to satisfy and support its rapidly growing international client base.

BSIA members to showcase latest innovations at IFSEC International 2014

Members of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) are looking forward to showcasing the very latest in innovative security technology before an impressive audience of international buyers and specifiers as IFSEC International makes its return to London next week (17-19 June).

The show’s relocation to London’s ExCeL has enabled exhibition organiser UBM Live to rejuvenate the show’s format, with the introduction of new features and opportunities for networking both during the show and after hours.

Learning, education and training still form a key element of the event’s format, with many BSIA spokespeople scheduled to take part in keynote sessions as part of the IFSEC Academy Conference Programme.

Meanwhile, several members of the BSIA’s Lone Worker Section will be showcasing the latest safety devices and smart phone apps at Safety and Health Expo, which runs alongside IFSEC International as part of UBM’s wider Protection and Management Series. There’s free entry to all IFSEC ticket-holders.

“There’s certainly a buzz of excitement in the air as we count down to IFSEC International’s return to London,” commented James Kelly, CEO of the BSIA (the trade body representing the UK’s private security industry). “With an impressive number of delegates from across the security buying chain already pre-registered to attend, the BSIA and its members are looking forward to a busy few days.”

UBM Live’s group marketing manager Ruth Galpine has confirmed the positive outlook for 2014’s event. “Pre-registration for IFSEC International is looking incredibly healthy,” said Galpine, “with current figures tracking at 45% up year-on-year. This is due to the re-location to London, opening the event up to end users and international visitors, both of which we’ve seen a huge increase in, plus all of the new visitor features, education and customer experience initiatives that UBM has put in place for this year.”
