Pelco introduces rugged Spectra Professional IR PTZ camera

Pelco by Schneider Electric, one of the global leaders when it comes to intelligent video surveillance solutions, has released the Spectra Professional IR – a rugged camera ideal for transportation-focused projects, city surveillance, deployment at airports and seaports and for use in commercial markets.

The Spectra Professional IR features an ‘above the horizon’ viewing capability providing greater coverage of bridges, overpasses and building exteriors without mounting additional cameras. The camera also provides built-in IR illumination on areas of interest such as roadways, ports, parking spaces and building perimeters up to 150 metres away, thereby offering a solution for end user customers who are perhaps frustrated with the inability of typical PTZ cameras to capture key image details in poorly lit environments.

“Thanks to extensive R&D, Pelco has honed the technology to capture critical details in low light situations,” explained Todd Dunning, senior product manager at Pelco. “Spectra Professional IR also incorporates a ‘bubble-less’ design, which is a new feature for the company’s line of surveillance technology.”

Spectra Professional IR: benefits for end users

Assuring coverage of large areas, the Spectra Professional IR camera is designed for use in round-the-clock surveillance projects.

Key features include:
● ‘Look-Up’: The Spectra Professional IR can view 15 degrees above the horizon that enables customers to see areas that are difficult to view when using typical mounting locations including bridge supports and cables, higher floors of commercial buildings as well as ships at a distance from seaports
● Outstanding image quality in poorly lit areas: Primarily used for outdoor applications with poor lighting conditions, the IR technology allows operators to see details up to 150 metres away, where external visible lighting isn’t wanted or is unavailable. The technology also provides control of the illumination intensity and exposure in the camera, thereby enabling people and vehicles to be tracked with clarity wherever they move in the field of coverage, near or far
● Smart compression technology: Featuring H.265 and Pelco’s Smart Compression technology, the Spectra Professional IR lowers bandwidth and storage requirements between 30% and 70%, depending on the amount of motion in the scene. This is especially important for 24×7 surveillance
● ‘Digital Image Stabilisation’: Reducing blurring associated with camera motion, this feature allows the cameras to maintain a smooth image ideal for surveilling areas affected by high vehicle traffic or strong winds like bridges and light poles
● Simple installation: Using only one wire to connect, the Spectra Professional IR comes with three power options and an embedded hinge design, making it easy to connect to and providing greater flexibility during installation
● Full integration with VideoXpert and ONVIF-compliant VMS: Seamlessly presented in video management systems, allowing operators to easily track objects moving in the scene and zoom in for greater detail

Pelco by Schneider Electric announces integration of VideoXpert with iView Systems’ iTrak

Pelco by Schneider Electric has announced that its VideoXpert video management system is now integrated with iTrak, the latest incident management solution to be developed by iView Systems.

“The iTrak plugin continues our efforts to work with other leaders in the industry on providing Pelco customers with seamless access to ready-made security solutions such that they can better understand and protect their organisations,” said Jonathan Lewit, director of business applications at Pelco by Schneider Electric.

Ideal for multi-site, multi-departmental solutions, iTrak provides end users with a centralised platform for incident and risk management. Its intuitive system design makes it easy to access comprehensive reporting, profiling, interview management, risk analysis and subject profiling information.

With the integration to VideoXpert, end users will not only be able to see all related incident data via a single report, but they can also now link these incidents with supporting video.

The Incident File feature captures critical incident data including location, sub-location, date and time as well as a short description of the incident in question. The added ability to include supporting attachments in the form of a narrative or media file to the incident subsequently allows for quick information retrieval.

Narrative files provide flexibility to include free-form text. This can be critical in instances of collecting witness accounts or documenting incident notes, while the media file attachments enable end users to include pictures or PDF files for more thorough event investigations.

“Ease-of-use and the integration of video with critical business data are cornerstones of the VideoXpert platform,” added Lewit. “The integration with iView really is a prime example of our long-term commitment to providing end users with extensible functionality through partner integration.”

Martin Drew, president and CEO at iView Systems, explained: “The seamless integration of iView Systems iTrak with the Pelco VideoXpert Ops Centre provides an instant and efficient method of converging incident-related information with its associated video data. This is hugely important. Users will also be able to leverage the tagging capability to identify video from cameras associated with iTrak’s incident location classifications. We believe the overall integration will provide significant improvements in overall operational efficiency and accuracy of reporting.”

Norbain showcases new Pelco Optera camera series at IFSEC International 2015

Norbain has announced that Pelco will be showcasing its new Optera Series ‘panomersive’ cameras at IFSEC International 2015. These high resolution cameras with panoramic viewing and SureVision 2.0 Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) “bring a new dimension” to CCTV, and can be seen at London’s ExCeL on the Pelco Stand (D800).

The Optera Series cameras seamlessly blend high quality images from four 3 Megapixel cameras mounted within the same housing. An ultra-HD panomersive video stream of an entire scene is produced while the cameras simultaneously render detailed, immersive video streams of multiple areas of interest within the scene.

Each video stream is processed separately by Pelco’s VideoXpert video management software (VMS) and other compatible, integrated VMS solutions.

The panomersive video stream is up to 12 Megapixels at 12.5 frames per second in full resolution. SureVision 2.0 WDR, anti-bloom technology, 3D noise filtering and advanced tone mapping all help to deliver exceptional image quality in low light, high-contrast scenes, day and night. Privacy settings and zones are also built-in.

The Optera Series cameras integrate with Pelco VideoXpert VMS and Pelco Digital Sentry systems. Integration with major third party VMS solutions is enabled using the Pelco API, Panomersive SDK and ONVIF standard as well as client-side de-warping.

Pelco video analytics is applied across the Optera Series’ wide field of view and includes abandoned object, adaptive motion detection, camera sabotage, directional motion, loitering detection, object counting, removed object and stopped vehicle.
