Bosch’s robust MIC IP video security cameras now even smarter thanks to latest built-in video analytics

The true potential of the MIC IP cameras from Bosch Security Systems is the combination of their rugged design with the latest built-in intelligent video analytics that are specifically designed for the most demanding environments. With added features like video analytics while moving and metadata fusion, situational awareness in extreme environments is substantially improved.

The built-in video analytics of both the MIC IP Starlight 7000i and the MIC IP Fusion 9000i cameras allow them to distinguish false triggers from real threats: for instance, a tree moving in the wind that isn’t a person trying to climb a fence. They can blend out snow, rain, hail or water reflections from the desired picture. The MIC cameras are also extremely resistant against shaking caused by punishing winds, city traffic or bicycles parked against the camera pole.

Fuelled by the Internet of Things, products are becoming more connected and more intelligent. An example of this is the MIC IP Fusion 9000i’s feature of metadata fusion. It fuses the metadata of the camera’s built-in optical and thermal lens and helps end users to focus on ‘invisible’ things that need attention. If the optical lens is blocked by smoke, the thermal one can automatically trigger an alarm and still deliver a thermal image of what’s going on. That’ why the MIC IP Fusion 9000i is ideal for situations that need maximum situational awareness and early object detection, such as perimeter protection of airports and critical infrastructure or the monitoring of bridges, tunnels and borders.

Another new feature is video analytics while moving, offered by both of the new MIC IP models. An operator is alerted instantly even at a remote location, or the Intelligent Tracking feature is triggered when a moving object or person is detected as the camera pans, tilts or zooms. Once Intelligent Tracking is activated, objects are tracked automatically. Optimal capture of the moving objects is assured by the camera’s dynamic adjustment of its field of view.

Starlight technology as standard

Both the MIC IP Starlight 7000i and the MIC IP Fusion 9000i offer Bosch’s Starlight technology as standard, with a 1080p resolution and a frame rate of 60 frames per second enabling capture of highly detailed, fast-moving colour images in scenes with minimum ambient light (down to 0.0077 lux).

Perfect exposure in uneven light is safeguarded by the cameras’ High Dynamic Range of 120 dB. In fog or low-contrast scenes, visibility is improved by Intelligent Defog. When light drops to zero, the MIC IP Starlight 7000i can be complemented with an optional illuminator, thereby enabling the camera to capture high quality images in complete darkness at distances of up to 450 metres.

Both cameras offer an integrated, motorised silicone wiper to keep the glass clean. A window-defrosting function allows the MIC IP Fusion 9000i capture the highest quality video, no matter how cold the temperature. These self-cleaning capabilities, combined with the NEMA-TS2 rating, make MIC IP cameras an ideal choice for monitoring traffic in tunnels or on bridges.

Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction and Intelligent Streaming

The MIC IP Starlight 7000i and the MIC IP Fusion 9000i cameras offer Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction and Intelligent Streaming combined with H.265 video compression. Depending on the content of the scene, this reduces bitrate by up to 80%. It helps to keep video data manageable, while substantially reducing network strain, storage requirements and costs without compromising functionality and image quality.

Dahua and GJD partnership delivers advanced detector-activated surveillance

Dahua Technology’s network video recorders (NVRs) now have a direct integration with IP-based outdoor detectors from GJD Manufacturing Limited. This integration provides end users with high quality and reliable detector-activated surveillance and monitoring.

The D-TECT IP range of detectors and Clarius PLUS IP illuminators have been integrated with Dahua’s NVR6-4KS2 range, an enterprise-level NVR providing up to 4K resolution. Its open architecture supports multi-user access and it’s compatible with ONVIF 2.4, enabling interoperability when combined with third party 4K cameras.

The NVR includes intelligent video analytics to detect people and moving objects, as well as other predetermined events, such as abandoned or missing objects, tripwire detection, people counting and facial detection.

The integration was achieved by incorporating GJD’s API on a special firmware that enables the NVR to accept alarms from the detectors and link them to the recorder’s functions.

The BS 8418-compliant IP detectors are suitable for intruder monitoring, CCTV surveillance and other alarm warning requirements, providing both volumetric and long-range narrow field-of-view sensing, in addition to remote programming.

Qognify and Bosch expand co-operation to deliver “new level” of interoperable security solutions

Qognify, the specialist in Big Data solutions for physical security and operations, has expanded the integration of Bosch network video security cameras and Qognify’s Situator and VisionHub, in turn providing customers with advanced technology and business benefits.

This ‘Best of Breed’ solution creates centralised management for the entire platform with direct integration of Bosch cameras to Situator (Situation Management/PSIM) and VisionHub (Video Management System).

The integration enhances security management and operational benefits by leveraging situation management, video and visualisation capabilities:

Additionally, the PTZ-like control of the video allows end users to digitally pan, tilt and zoom in order to focus on details without losing the bigger picture. This advance support of de-warping means empowering the benefit from wide coverage using a single device, while having a “normal” view of an otherwise distorted or reversed image.

Qognify records the original camera stream and de-warps the video for viewing purposes, allowing each operator a unique view.

*Reduced storage and network bandwidth with VisionHubBosch Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction: A feature that optimises storage capacity and reduces network strain by using bandwidth only when needed. By intelligently distinguishing between noise and relevant information, Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction reduces the camera’s bitrate by up to 50%, substantially contributing to a lower total cost of ownership.

In addition, the integration supports the Qognify video analytics suite running centrally on the recorder, combining Bosch built-in (edge) video analytics with Qognify’s server-based video analytics. This offers customers maximum flexibility when designing a video analytics solution.

Dahua Technology signs distribution partnership with ADI

Dahua Technology, the manufacturer of video surveillance equipment, has signed a partnership agreement with ADI, which has the largest branch network for the distribution of security products in the UK.

ADI has its head office located in Bury, Greater Manchester, and is a global leader in the wholesale distribution of security and low-voltage equipment with over 200 international locations. ADI customers can now benefit from Dahua’s extensive range of end-to-end IP and analogue HD security solutions, including cameras, recorders, software, display and control solutions and video management software.

Dahua products are both innovative and scalable, with particular strength in IP-based communication.

Bosch makes video analytics at the edge a new built-in standard for all IP cameras

Escalating demand for highly-detailed, 24/7 video images produces colossal amounts of data which requires extensive transmission and storage capacity as well as time-consuming monitoring and assessment. With this in mind, Bosch Security Systems has announced the roll-out of video analytics inside its cameras (ie ‘at the edge’) as a standard feature. In the next 12 months, Bosch Security Systems’ complete range of IP cameras will come fully-equipped with video analytics at the edge. Video analytics inside the camera create an intelligent video security system using metadata, which means adding sense and structure to video data already at the point of capture (ie ‘at the edge’) and enabling each camera to operate independently.

Decentralising intelligence in this way eliminates a single point of failure (central analytics server), meaning that if one camera or encoder fails, the system maintains full performance. Bosch launches latest variant of Starlight camera technology

Bosch Starlight cameras deliver the highest quality of relevant video surveillance, even in extremely low light conditions. From October, the Starlight portfolio will be even further enhanced thanks to improved light sensitivity, improved front and backlight compensation and higher frame rates as well as a wider choice of resolutions and form factors.

VCA’s Bridge integrated with SureView’s Immix security management platform

VCA’s Bridge appliance, which instantly adds video analytics capability to any new or existing IP video surveillance camera system, has now been successfully integrated with SureView’s security management platform.

Supporting multiple camera channels, Bridge is an easy to deploy, low cost analytics appliance which is equipped with extensive back office tools to set detection zones for people and vehicles.

Using VCA’s video analytics engine, which has been successfully deployed worldwide in over 350,000 video channels, Bridge is able to detect movement within very small areas of a video image. As such, it can provide central station operators with a powerful ‘exception’ reporting tool to help them identify suspicious activity and, when appropriate, dispatch security officers or quickly report the incident to one of the Emergency Services. 

Filtering out false alarms

Bridge is designed to meet the challenge of detecting movement in outdoor locations as it will automatically adapt to varying light conditions and can easily be fine-tuned to minimise false alarms due to, for example, rustling trees or wildlife.

It will even continue to deliver a high level of performance when cameras may be swaying due to windy conditions.
