Integrated security manufacturer TDSi is pleased to announce details of its education programme to be conducted in the Tavcom Training Theatre at IFSEC International 2017. The schedule includes three presentations focusing on wireless locking, combining physical and cyber security in the cloud and open platforms. TDSi will also participate in a panel discussion on the future of access control.

TDSi’s managing director John Davies will be making specific presentations on all three days of the event from 12.30 pm until 1.30 pm. On Tuesday 20 June, Davies will be talking about ‘Enhancing Security and Reducing Installation Time and Hassle with Wireless Locking’. “TDSi is committed to educating the security market,” urged Davies, “so it makes perfect sense that we’re partnering with our good friends at Tavcom and sponsoring the Tavcom Theatre [Stand B1250] this year. We’re also looking forward to engaging with an audience of security professionals and consumers to discuss key trends and look at some of the exciting developments in the security sphere which are shaping its future and, indeed, already having a profound effect.”

Synopses of the presentations

‘Enhancing Security and Reducing Installation Time and Hassle with Wireless Locking’

Wireless solutions are revolutionising the installation, administration and operation of physical security and access control systems. In this seminar, TDSi and Darren Gill from ASSA Abloy will demonstrate the considerable benefits of using wireless locking systems to effectively enhance any integrated security system.

‘The Future of Open Platforms’

TDSi along with Jarod Booth (regional security manager at Anixter) will discuss the impact of open platform systems and the benefits of ONVIF compliance, as well as answering questions from the floor, in turn addressing queries and concerns from the wider security industry.

‘The Benefits of Combining Physical and Cyber Security in the Cloud’

Cloud-hosted security systems offer greater flexibility, convenience and control while at the same time maintaining the highest levels of protection. TDSi will showcase how Cloud hosting of systems benefits security operators and installers by offering the ideal solution at the right cost.

Alongside the programme of seminars and panel debates, TDSi will be running its own Technology Showcase. This will include live demonstrations for the company’s customers and partners. Additionally, TDSi’s systems will be on display on its distribution partner Anixter’s Stand (D1050), while TDSi’s EXgarde security software and controllers will be part of the display on the Suprema Stand (D1400), both of which are in the main hall at London’s ExCeL.

Hochiki Europe offers industry and tech insight at FIREX International 2017

Hochiki Europe – the manufacturer of life safety solutions –  will be on Stand D100 at this year’s FIREX International (which runs from 20-22 June at London’s ExCeL), offering expert insight on key industry issues and showcasing an extensive range of its systems.

The company will be giving visitors live product demonstrations and guidance on how to select the right life safety system for specific environments. Visitors will also be introduced to Hochiki Europe’s new water detection system, LEAKalarm, as well as its analogue addressable life safety platform designated L@titude.

L@titude helps customers quickly locate and examine incidents occurring across premises in real time and from any location. The platform enables customers to create a fully customisable life safety system thanks to addressable loop detection circuits, conventional detection circuits, relay cards and additional sounder outputs.

Alongside a new conventional detector and an EN54-23 approved base sounder beacon, the next generation of ESP intelligent sensors will also be on display. These new sensors feature an integral short-circuit isolator (SCI) in the sensor itself, negating the need for SCI mounting bases.

Hochiki Europe’s extensive FIREscape family of emergency lighting solutions will also be showcased with working demonstrations at the event, including the new FIREscape lite stand-alone kits and the combined fire detection and emergency lighting system FIREscape+.

Stand D100 will feature a selection of specialist application equipment including intrinsically safe and SIL2-approved flame detectors, beam detectors and aspirating systems, as well as linear heat detection.

In addition to product displays, Hochiki Europe’s stand will offer a presentation area where educational seminars will take place throughout the show. Topics for discussion will include the recent revisions to emergency lighting legislation, as well as overviews of the latest life safety technologies available and how they can be applied in different environments.

The Hochiki Europe team will be on hand throughout the show to offer guidance on the best use of each technology. Visitors are encouraged to speak with Hochiki Europe’s experts for application advice.

Paul Adams, marketing manager at Hochiki Europe, commented: “FIREX International is an ideal opportunity to meet with industry stakeholders and discuss new ways in which to address key issues occurring in our sector. If you’re looking to hear from life safety experts on the latest trends and technologies, you should certainly visit our stand.”

Pilgrims Group’s Afghanistan project wins Security and Fire Excellence Award for International Achievement

For the third year running, international security specialist Pilgrims Group has won a prestigious Security and Fire Excellence Award (SEA), this time around for its work on protecting an international aerospace electronics client in Afghanistan.

The project involved the very rapid mobilisation and full operation of a training school and maintenance centre providing the foundation for teaching Afghan engineer instructors and engineers to support the secure communications equipment provided to every major organisation in the Afghan Security Forces.

The Security and Fire Excellence Awards’ Judges clearly recognised the excellent teamwork required and the challenges of delivering such a project on time in the extremely challenging security context in Afghanistan. Also, they recognised the significance of the outcome – a sustainable capability of secure communications across all forces engaged in the fight against terrorism.

At the heart of the installation apprentice and young engineer industry, the competition will provide participants with a global stage to compete against their peers and represent their company.
