ONVIF makes plans to highlight member companies at IFSEC International 2019

ONVIF, the global standardisation initiative for IP-based physical security products, will be exhibiting at IFSEC International 2019. The show runs at ExCeL in London from 18-20 June. The organisation will be joined by 40-plus ONVIF member companies.

As part of its presence at the exhibition, ONVIF will host the ONVIF Lounge on Stand IF2524, which provides charging stations for attendee use throughout the show. Representatives from ONVIF and various member companies will be present at the booth throughout the event to answer questions about ONVIF and provide insight on how they use the ONVIF standards for their businesses. Participating companies will include Hikvision, Costain, Synectics and TDSi.

“We’re happy to be exhibiting at IFSEC again this year, giving those who are unfamiliar with ONVIF the opportunity to learn more,” said Per Björkdahl, chair of the ONVIF Steering Committee. “ONVIF provides valuable tools that can make things easier for practising security professionals and their host organisations. We hope that, by having member companies present on Stand IF2524, attendees gain the inside track on what it means to be an ONVIF member.”

Number of ONVIF-conformant products reaches 10,000 milestone

ONVIF, the global standardisation initiative for IP-based physical security products, has surpassed 10,000 conformant products that meet its global interoperability standards, further broadening the organisation’s offer and relevance in the IP-based physical security marketplace.

This level of conformant products marks yet another milestone for ONVIF as it celebrates its tenth year as a standards organisation, providing interoperability specifications for IP-based physical security products. The Profiles offered by ONVIF address video surveillance and access control functions and are increasingly applicable in security and connectivity environments such as Safe City initiatives, Internet of Things applications and intelligent building automation.

“With more than 10,000 conformant products in its tenth year, the acceptance for ONVIF in the market has grown in a way that no-one could have anticipated,” explained Per Björkdahl, chair of the ONVIF Steering Committee. “This number represents not only the success of ONVIF, but how our member companies, many of whom are competitors, have collaborated to provide solutions that are relevant and needed in the market. This is a strong testament of the importance of standards in our rapidly evolving marketplace.”

In the past two years, ONVIF has continued to see a strong commitment from its member base representing a majority of the manufacturers in the industry, along with a dramatic increase in new conformant products. The numbers reflect the increasing demand for open source standards in the market. ONVIF will continue to provide the framework for further conformant products that enable interoperability.

ONVIF-conformant products are produced only by ONVIF member companies and must support at least one ONVIF Profile. Products must be registered under the ONVIF list of conformant products to be considered conformant.

The Conformant Products page on the ONVIF website, onvif.org, is the only authoritative list of ONVIF-conformant products.

ONVIF has a global member base of established camera, video management system and access control solution companies. With Profile S for streaming video, Profile G for recording and storage, Profile C for physical access control, Profile Q for improved out-of-the-box functionality, Profile A for broader access control configuration and the Profile T Release Candidate for advanced streaming, ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions ONVIF-conformant products can provide.

ONVIF expands influence with 5,000 conformant products, 500 members and fifth Profile specification

ONVIF, the global standardisation initiative for IP-based physical security products, has now reached nearly 5,000 IP-based physical security products registered as ONVIF compliant, grown to encompass more than 500 member companies and has developed its fifth Profile specification – Profile A for advanced access control.

These milestones signify ONVIF’s continuing development and influence as a major driver of interoperability in the physical security market.

“End users in the industry and the broader consumer market now expect basic interoperability when they make purchases, and manufacturers are responding by making more interoperable products as a result of using ONVIF’s specifications,” said Per Björkdahl, chairman of the ONVIF Steering Committee.

“We’re proud to have reached these milestones in ONVIF’s growth and development and look forward to working with our members and the industry at large to continue to promote interoperability in the market.”

5,000 conformant products and 500 members

In the last 12 months alone, the number of ONVIF conformant products grew by 1,300 (representing an increase of approximately 35%).

Also in the past year, ONVIF has reached more than 500 members: a membership that now represents six of the seven continents in the world.

5th Profile – Profile A

ONVIF’s fifth and newest Profile – Profile A for advanced access control – is designed to establish an interface for access control clients and expands the configuration options for ONVIF conformant access control systems.

Profile A is available in release candidate status on the ONVIF website.

“Profile A is designed to meet the market’s evolving need for a more advanced access control profile,” said Neelendra Bhandari, engineering leader at ONVIF member company Honeywell Security. “This illustrates ONVIF’s commitment to stay attuned to the needs of its members and the industry which is reflected in its ongoing development of new profiles and continued work to promote interoperability.”

With Profile S for streaming video, Profile G for recording and storage, Profile C for physical access control, Profile Q for easy installation and advanced security features and Profile A for advanced access control configuration, ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions ONVIF conformant products can provide.
