Zaun Group embarks on diplomatic mission

A fictional embassy secured by an integrated perimeter protection solution from the Zaun Group was the stand-out highlight of the 2016 Security and Policing Show.

The embassy mock-up was constructed with input from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Security Liaison Unit and Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection, which advises on the protection of embassies and other diplomatic missions.

Show visitors raved about the mock-up, which was designed to give a realistic impression of the many security elements deployed to protect diplomats and the buildings that they use.

Staff staged mock scenarios including a full security lockdown to make the live experience even more realistic at the annual UK Government security show, which was held at the FIVE venue in Farnborough from 8-10 March.

It’s the UK’s only security event aimed at police, law enforcement and security professionals specifically tasked with security, civil protection and national resilience.

The Zaun Group pitched its integrated high security perimeter systems from a combined stand (B47) that housed a working demonstration including an SR2-rated gate, electric fencing, perimeter intrusion detection systems, CCTV and video analytics, prison mesh and post systems complete with razor coil toppings.

The centrepiece embassy mock-up demonstrated far more coherently the integrated approach that the Zaun Group can offer, with both Perimeter Security Suppliers Association-verified products and installations.

The comprehensive solution included Zaun’s most intruder-resistant fencing, ArmaWeave, FST prison toppings from Binns, electric fencing and PIDs from Harper Chalice and multi-megapixel and HD video evidence from a series of HD CCTV cameras recorded and managed by EyeLynx’s SharpView intelligent video surveillance system.

Over 350 companies exhibited at the event, showcasing world-leading technologies, products and solutions. It’s very much a cornerstone of the UK’s security event calendar.

Optimum multifaceted CCTV solution for ultra-high security introduced by EyeLynx

A modular integrated CCTV solution with wireless 4G router, multi-camera and recorder has hit the market with the aim of installations for ultra-high security sectors.

Pharos Optimus from software security expert EyeLynx allows up to four configurable devices to be mounted on a mast, meaning that site security operators can deploy the perfect combination of day, night and infrared cameras, lighting, detection and audio technologies on a single PTZ unit.

Highly robust to repel extremes of temperature, moisture and corrosive chemicals, Pharos Optimus models can cope with marine applications and other harsh environments such as industrial chemical plants and the desert.

EyeLynx, which is part of the perimeter protection group Zaun, expects the top end of its Pharos range to sell well to energy infrastructure operators, such as oil, gas, electricity and nuclear networks across Europe and the Middle East.

Optimus is deployed with configurable modules including Full HD 1080p and VGA thermal cameras, ANPR, visible or infrared LEDs and amplified horn speakers. Adaptive LED lighting controls brightness in response to ambient light levels.

Also available is a combined IR/white light LED module capable of illuminating subjects over 100 metres away.

Evidence gathering for prosecutions

CEO Jay Patel explained: “Optimus offers the greatest protection against crime and vandalism at a fraction of the price of security guarding, and also gathers vital HD video evidence for prosecution in the event of a security breach. Site security operators can detect threats early with advanced sensors such as RADAR, on-fence acoustic cable and video analytics integrated with SharpView.”

EyeLynx’s Pharos system is said to be the only true rapid deployment HD surveillance system on the market with Edge Recording Cluster (ERC) capability to incorporate an intelligent recorder, management software and wireless communications all in the same unit.

Cameras record HD 24/7. Whenever the perimeter is compromised or a potential intruder approaches too close to the site perimeter, Pharos will send a snapshot alert to the Control Room for visual verification using Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G or ADSL (or even to assigned personal mobile devices, such as the police or the nearest member of security staff to the breach).

SharpView integrates with access control, fire and intruder alarms and facial recognition systems to further enhance safety and security at multi-site facilities.

Precise movements at full zoom

Optimus incorporates a micro-stepping motor with no wearing parts ensuring smooth silent movement and zero backlash, while a speed range of 10,000:1 delivers precise movements even at full zoom.

EyeLynx has also unveiled an innovative mounting bracket for its Pharos pole-mounted devices complete with anti-tamper and anti-theft enhancements.

Zaun acquires CCTV developer EyeLynx in bid to offer complete perimeter security solutions for end users

Perimeter fencing manufacturer Zaun has acquired EyeLynx Limited, the specialist developer and manufacturer of video and electronic security solutions. The acquisition enables Zaun to offer complete perimeter security solutions to its ever-growing end user customer base.

Jay Patel and Francisco Feijoo, the founders of EyeLynx, have continually delivered comprehensive solutions using their SharpView software. Indeed, the company has actively collaborated with Zaun for more than two years now, rendering this purchase the natural next step forward for both organisations.

Commenting on the deal, Zaun’s co-founder and director Alastair Henman explained: “Jay and Francisco are great guys with an exciting product. The synergy of that product with our customers is plain to see, so we look forward to helping the tie-up thrive in the years ahead. We’re giving Jay and Francisco all the support they need to develop state-of-the-art perimeter protection solutions that integrate with Zaun’s fencing products. As well as growing EyeLynx, this development also moves Zaun towards an integrated perimeter security systems offering.”

Working out of offices in Chessington, Surrey and Zaragoza, Spain, EyeLynx has created SharpView, the highest performance system for HD MegaPixel CCTV. Built-in capabilities for Video Content Analysis mean that SharpView is also “the smartest recording and management system” in the security sector.

EyeLynx’s Pharos system is the only true Rapid Deployment High Definition (HD) surveillance system on the market with Edge Recording Cluster capability to incorporate an intelligent recorder, management software and wireless communications all in the same unit. Using the SharpView recording engine, Pharos can accommodate multiple slave PTZ cameras of any make connected into the master.

Cameras record in HD on a 24/7 basis and, whenever a perimeter zone is compromised or a potential intruder approaches too close to the fence, Pharos will send a snapshot alert to the Control Room operators for visual verification or to assigned personal mobile devices (such as those belonging to the local police chief or the nearest constable to the reported breach).

Zaun and EyeLynx have already developed a rapid deployment CCTV tower with embedded cabling and an integrated power cabinet in the post base to enable quick and easy on-site set-up without the need for heavy machinery. Remote connectivity is achieved over wireless 3G or 4G.

Only the master unit needs a SIM card, which helps beam the video intelligence to a workstation or mobile device into which anyone authorised can dial-in to view live footage or rewind and replay from any of the cameras.

The system was successfully deployed at the Conservative Party’s Annual Conference, which took place at the ICC in Birmingham last week.
