LILIN’s megapixel outdoor IP cameras feature edge computing for object counting

LILIN is taking quality and value “to the next level” with the new ZMR8122X-P bullet IP camera. Perfect for outdoor installations, the ZMR8122X-P delivers Full HD 1080p (2 MP) video at up to 30 frames per second (fps), while also offering end users maximum protection against dust, dirt, and water.

On-board Intelligent Video Surveillance (IVS) enables security integrators to tailor the ZMR8122X-P to detect the objects and situations that matter most to the purchasing end user, in turn opening up new possibilities for customised applications.

IVS combines edge-level advanced motion detection, designated Tripwire, that allows a detection line to be drawn within a camera image – Semaphore + Tripwire – when a combination of events need to occur for an alarm to trigger. Object counting enables businesses, for example, to obtain accurate information on the number of people who enter or leave their premises.

To achieve excellent depth of field, the ZMR8122X-P is P-IRIS supported, meaning that it automatically adjusts like an auto iris yet prevents blurred images that can occur when an auto iris over-corrects for bright lights.

With P-IRIS, the camera is the ideal solution for situations where light is constantly and quickly changing, no matter how close or how far the subject is located. True day/night recording is enhanced by infrared LEDs and LILIN’s SenseUp Plus enabling clear night-time images at a distance of up to 115 feet or more.

The ZMR8122X-P bullet IP camera is for those security professionals who require detailed, high-resolution surveillance of challenging locations such as hotels, car parks and loading bays. It’s the latest addition to LILIN’s portfolio of advanced IP video technology engineered to improve ease of use for operators, simplify installation for contractors and deliver stable, high-quality video for end users regardless of lighting conditions to help protect people and facilities.

Built-in I/O ports allow the connection of external devices to help enhance alarm signalling and also enable features such as two-way audio.

National Security Inspectorate appoints new auditor in Northern Ireland

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI), the UK’s independent certification body specialising in the security, guarding and fire sectors, has appointed Clare McIntyre as security and fire systems auditor and lead auditor for ISO 9001 in Northern Ireland.

Having spent over 20 years in the sector within quality and operations management and system design, McIntyre brings a wealth of experience to the NSI’s expert auditing team. She previously worked for NSI approved companies, transitioning from one of the few female-nominated fire alarm designers to become a fully-integrated security and fire design engineer.

Having realised her passion for developing and improving standards within the industry, becoming an auditor for NSI was a natural progression in McIntyre’s career.

Richard Jenkins, the NSI’s CEO, commented: “We’re committed to recruiting auditors with practical experience, knowledge and understanding of our sector. Currently, the UK has the lowest percentage of females on the engineering register in the EU at only 7%. Therefore, Clare’s appointment may also serve to embed some change in what has, traditionally, been a male-dominated sector in the UK. ”

NSI to sponsor ‘Outstanding Security Installer/Integrator’ category at 2019 OSPAs

The NSI is proud to sponsor the ‘Outstanding Security Installer/Integrator’ category at next year’s Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs), which take place in London on 28 February.

The UK OSPAs is part of a global awards scheme currently running in eight countries and designed to recognise outstanding contributions and achievements within their respective security sectors. Following extensive research in 2014 by Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International on what constitutes outstanding performance, the OSPA categories and criteria were then standardised, providing an opportunity for countries to run their own evidence-based OSPAs, while also maintaining the ability to compete on an international level.

NSIOSPAs

Professor Martin Gill CSyP FSyI, founder of the OSPAs and director of Perpetuity Research, commented: “I’m delighted that the NSI is continuing its Installer/Integrator category sponsorship of the UK OSPAs. Since its formation nearly five decades ago, the NSI’s focus has been to raise standards in the UK security sector and those companies securing its approval, across all disciplines of security, are instrumental in helping to achieve this goal. The OSPAs provides a global stage for security excellence so it’s fitting that the NSI is a key player in these awards.”

Richard Jenkins added: “We’re committed to supporting initiatives that celebrate excellence and innovation in the UK’s security sector. The OSPAs are highly respected among the security and buyer communities for their core values and ethics. Gaining recognition with an OSPA is a significant achievement and we’re delighted to be associated with this prestigious event.”

End users urged to “energise” CCTV solutions with Xeno’s new Nitro range

Xeno has announced that it can now offer customers full HD resolution over standard RG59 coax at ranges of 300 metres thanks to the company’s new Nitro range of cameras and DVRs.

The range brings “superb” 1080P image quality to the end user at an “extremely cost-effective” price point. Available options include eyeball, bullet and vandal-resistant dome cameras, as well as 4, 8 and 16-channel DVRs.

In order to allow integrators a seamless transition to the Nitro range, the DVRs operate in exactly the same way as the XDR960 range with no additional training required.

The same Central Management Software can be used to connect to these and also the range of Xeno IP NVRS. The Nitro range affords integrators “the perfect opportunity” to upgrade their existing analogue customers to Full HD resolution.

Xeno product manager Bob Forehand told Risk UK: “Nitro allows integrators to offer their customers the advantages of Full HD resolution, but without the complexity of IP networking. In addition, they can use any existing coax cabling. thereby keeping costs to a minimum and simplifying the overall upgrade process.”

Forehand went on to comment: “As these cameras are dual format AHD and 960H, integrators only need to stock one type of camera to be able to service both old and new installations. This is an extremely exciting development in the analogue world and offers end users a cost-effective upgrade path to Full HD.”
