Digital Barriers wins new US contracts worth combined total of $6.8 million

Digital Barriers, the specialist provider of visually intelligent solutions to the global surveillance, security and safety markets, has announced a number of new contracts for its EdgeVis Live technology that have been signed this month.

The company has agreed deals with two different flagship US federal law enforcement agencies worth a combined $6.8 million. In addition, it has secured a £2.0 million contract extension with BT Redcare, under which its class-leading EdgeVis Live wireless video surveillance products are marketed as ‘Redcare View’.

Digital Barriers’ EdgeVis Live surveillance technology offers secure distribution of real-time video from anywhere to anywhere, featuring end-to-end security, real world resilience and network optimisation that can stream usable live video using 60% less bandwidth than standard technologies.

It delivers significant capability benefits and material cost savings over competing technologies, and has now been sold into many of the world’s leading law enforcement and defence agencies.

Zak Doffman, CEO of Digital Barriers, commented: “The scale of these contract awards clearly demonstrates the significant technical lead that EdgeVis Live enjoys over its competition and the value of last year’s acquisition of Brimtek in enhancing our market position and credibility across the US law enforcement landscape. EdgeVis Live continues to build market share among flagship US agencies, in turn providing us with a strong platform for material future growth.”

Top 10 business continuity disasters over last 12 months revealed by IT Specialists

Whether it was a fire that brought a halt to a bustling city centre, structural damage to a bridge that diverted 80,000 commuters daily or a 106 mph storm that disrupted 130 flights, the last 12 months had its share of incidents that kept businesses on their toes and put their revenue at risk.

As part of the Business Continuity Institute’s Business Continuity Awareness Week (BCAW) 2016, managed service provider IT Specialists (ITS) put together research highlighting some of the biggest threats to business continuity over the last 12 months.

BCAW, which ran from 16-20 May, was designed to raise awareness about business continuity and resilience following both high-profile and smaller incidents that threaten businesses.

As a managed service provider itself, ITS offers a number of services that protect its clients in the face of major upheaval, including business continuity, IT support, field service and outsourced service desk.

The company compiled this research to help businesses understand the types of incidents that could affect them. Without a thorough business continuity programme, there’s a risk of negative consequences such as lost inventory, reduced productivity due to employees being unable to work remotely, property damage and the all-important revenue loss.

ITS’ goal is to help businesses mitigate the impact of business interruptions with its business continuity solutions, which include BlackVault Managed Recovery Platform, a fully managed disaster recovery as a service platform using a hybrid cloud infrastructure.

“Investing in forward planning can save valuable time, protect an organisation’s revenue and preserve its customer base,” said Matt Kingswood, UK head of ITS.

“We urge businesses to formulate a business continuity programme to identify inefficient processes that cost the organisation money on a daily basis and can prove a barrier to disaster recovery.”
