Axis to host Partner Showcase event demonstrating “cutting edge surveillance technology for a connected world”

Axis Communications has announced the return of its flagship initiative designed to drive innovation through partnership – the Axis Partner Showcase event. The open day, to be held on 11 October in Knutsford, Cheshire will showcase industry-leading security systems from 35 vendors that complement Axis’ intelligent security solutions for enabling a smarter and safer world.

The innovative solutions to be showcased at the event promise to be diverse and go beyond security, ranging from the latest updates in retail analytics, behavioural analysis and sustainability through to hosted services and cyber security.

The Axis Partner Showcase event will be attended by organisations with expertise in areas such as access control and video management systems, among them Morphean, Milestone Systems, Genetec and ASSA Abloy. It provides the ideal forum for security integrators, installers and end users to experience these innovations in person.

The drive for efficiency, security and staff safety is an essential focus for the security industry. Ensuring technology is not only fit for its intended purpose, but also fit for use in the future, are key drivers of this commitment. With innovation now a daily feature from a variety of market influencers, knowledge of how to best assess the potential of cutting-edge security technology is often ‘lost in the noise’.

Daren Lang, regional manager of business development in Northern Europe at Axis Communications, stated: “As connectivity and the integration of products continues, the security needs of businesses change. This opens up new possibilities. Our strategies and solutions must change to meet the new opportunities created. We’are thrilled to announce the return of the Axis Partner Showcase. This event is designed to demonstrate how our partners, in conjunction with ourselves, can deliver solutions that stand the test of time, whether looking at the shift from forensic to real time analysis, how to deal with issues around cyber security or keeping pace with new regulations such as the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation.”

Lang added: “As security requirements shift, we see an increasing demand for alternative solutions. Instead of focusing on surveillance alone, businesses are increasingly seeking ways in which smart systems can be integrated, ensuring that technology is flexible and future facing. This is how we help to ensure that technology is not only fit for purpose, but also fit for the future.”

Atul Rajput, regional director for Northern Europe at Axis Communications, stated: “The pace of innovation is core to Axis’ philosophy. It’s of critical importance to keep each of our customers and partners up-to-date with the technology available today as well as its potential for tomorrow. The Axis Partner Showcase event brings this under one roof, providing the best forum available to experience these innovations in person.”

Milestone Systems and Community Partners deliver high profile retail surveillance solution across Middle East and North Africa

Milestone Systems, the developer of open platform IP VMS, has delivered a flexible and scalable surveillance solution for Majid Al Futtaim’s multi-site operations across the Middle East and North Africa. The solution integrates Best-in-Class technologies from Community Partners.

As a fast-growing business, Majid Al Futtaim realised that managing large camera networks and risks across multiple sites and countries posed several challenges. First, the outdated analogue surveillance infrastructure was in need of being modernised. Second, the sheer size of the operation, with multiple sites across several countries and more than a thousand cameras at some sites, had to be addressed.

Following a comprehensive vetting process, Majid Al Futtaim chose a state-of-the-art security and video surveillance solution in order for the business to remain at the forefront of operating safe and secure retail and leisure environments.

The Milestone XProtect Corporate VMS permits Majid Al Futtaim to operate the entire surveillance solution from a single management interface in the UAE. Being able to access all the sites from one location enables the operations team to co-ordinate surveillance and management efforts across those sites. Other relevant parties can also leverage the information directly from mobile clients, in turn enabling more efficient safety operations.

Top-of-the-range Axis Communications cameras and Pivot3 hyper-converged server infrastructure guarantee the host business lives up to Government regulations. iCetana’s dynamic live monitoring system helps offset the challenges of actively monitoring the large camera networks and enables a real-time assessment and response capability.

Operational costs related to the hardware, servers and cameras have been reduced from 23% to 7%. Real-time response capability helps make overall security operations more effective by immediately identifying risks. Today, there are approximately 10-12 incidents actioned per 300 cameras.

“We are honoured Majid Al Futtaim has chosen Milestone as its primary VMS and we look forward to continuing to support them now and into the future,” enthused Peter Biltsted, director for the Middle East and Africa at Milestone Systems.

“iCetana is proud to provide ongoing support to Majid Al Futtaim throughout the MENA region, and also to be part of Milestone’s Partner Community as key components of Majid Al Futtaim’s video surveillance infrastructure,” added Stephen Bose, head of business development at iCetana.

TDSi to showcase latest version of EXgarde integrated security solution at Intersec 2016

Integrated security manufacturer TDSi will be demonstrating the latest version of its EXgarde 4.5 integrated security solution at Intersec 2016, which runs from 17-19 January in Dubai. Appearing on Stand S2-B09, the company will also be showcasing its broad range of products and services, as well as offering one-to-one help and advice to visitors.

John Davies, managing director of TDSi, will be heading up the company’s team at the show and commented: “Intersec is the first major security event of the New Year and attracts a lot of interest regionally and throughout the international security industry. We were again overwhelmed by the interest and visitor response at the event this year, so we’re very much looking forward to travelling to Dubai next month, which is the perfect setting for this dynamic show.”

Intersec is the key event for TDSi when it comes to export markets trends, as Davies explained.

“The show is an important barometer for us when it comes to exports in the region and beyond. This year, we received a lot of feedback from visitors, partners and customers on the demands of the market and we hope to gain similar insights at Intersec 2016.”

As well as his work with TDSi, Davies serves as the BSIA’s Export Council Section chairman, so will also be viewing the proceedings at Intersec from a broader perspective as a key representative of the UK security industry.

EXgarde 4.5 on view

The TDSi stand will be featuring EXgarde 4.5 and its latest benefits, which include two-way communication with Milestone’s Access Control Module (ACM) and integration with the recently launched ASSA ABLOY KS100 server cabinet electronic lock.

The latest upgrades are designed to add further functionality and flexibility, both of them key ingredients which have influenced the development of this sophisticated software platform since its inception.

EXgarde 4.5’s enhanced integration with Milestone’s powerful ACM allows operators to use the Milestone solution as their primary user interface, while maintaining full access control via the EXgarde software. Previous versions had been able to accept data from the video management system (VMS), but version 4.5 allows data from EXgarde to be displayed within the VMS.

The integration with ASSA ABLOY’s KS100 server cabinet locking solution is in response to recent developments in physical server security needs. EXgarde 4.5 brings the KS100 system into the integrated security mix, offering the highest levels of protection (even in a shared data centre), while facilitating authorised access and full security monitoring.

Discussions on security requirements

Intersec 2016 is the perfect opportunity for visitors from the Middle East and further afield to view the latest security solutions on offer for 2016.

“TDSi will be on hand to talk about your security needs and how we can support your projects with our latest products and services,” enthused Davies. “We’re really looking forward to catching up with our customers and partners in this exciting location, and I would encourage all visitors to take a look at our stand and speak to members of the team about how we can help you.”
