Vanderbilt builds on security market success with duo of senior management appointments

Vanderbilt International, the state-of-the-art security systems developer, has strengthened its senior management team with two key appointments. Peter Mueller has joined the company as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO) and executive committee member, while Rickard Hammarberg will take on the role of sales hub head for Sweden.

Mueller’s impressive career spans over 30 years in business, where he was a management consultant for international blue chip companies including Deloitte, Arthur D Little and IBM. A graduate of the University of Münster, for the last seven years he has served as Professor in MBA Programs at the Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and Adjunct Professor at Beijing Normal University as well as being a visiting Professor at universities throughout India.

Mueller will now facilitate a strong alignment with Vanderbilt’s Information Technology, business and management functions.

Commenting on his new role, Mueller told Risk UK: “As CIO, I’m looking forward to identifying areas where we can use technology to make our overall operation more efficient and cost-effective and improve the service we offer to our ever-growing customer base. This will ensure that we maximise our competitive potential in what is a highly competitive market, while at the same time delivering value and adapting to changing working practices such as remote working.”

For his part, Rickard Hammarberg brings a wealth of experience to Vanderbilt gained over 20 years of working in the security industry, during which time he has amassed considerable knowledge about the technology and trends within the CCTV and access control sectors.

His previous positions include a variety of national and international roles, among them a two-year stint in the UK as team leader at Bewator. Hammarberg’s most recent position was regional sales manager for the Nordics at Lenel Systems International. He has also worked for BIAB Larm and YIT Sweden.

Hammarberg is now tasked with increasing the company’s profile in Sweden and the wider Nordic region, as well as setting the strategic business plan and sales strategy to build the brand and develop long-term relationships with its customers.

He commented: “I’m convinced that Vanderbilt’s ranges of access control, intrusion alarm and video surveillance products offer unrivalled levels of performance, flexibility and user-friendliness. This all makes them perfect for the Swedish market, and I’m now looking forward to playing my part in the company’s growth strategy and taking myself and my team to new levels of success.”

Welcoming Mueller and Hammarberg on board, Joseph Grillo (Vanderbilt’s managing director) stated: “Since acquiring Security Products from Siemens in April 2015, Vanderbilt has reinforced its position as a global leader in state-of-the-art security systems. Having Peter and Rickard on our senior management team will really help us in our mission to expand our presence in the security business sector and provide a level of service that’s agile, flexible and always meets our customers’ needs.”

Lenel introduces Lite version of OnGuard WATCH for visualisation of critical security data

Lenel Systems International has announced the launch of OnGuard WATCH Lite 1.0 across Europe, Middle East and Africa. WATCH Lite is a free version of the comprehensive, web-based dashboard tool for OnGuard system users.

The dashboard discovers and presents security data to security and IT professionals in a whole new way, enabling them to visualise the information at once to allow for quicker decisions rather than having to scan multiple reports.

OnGuard WATCH Lite places actionable information at the fingertips of key personnel. Users can monitor OnGuard system information through one graphical and intuitive interface to more efficiently manage the OnGuard system.

“OnGuard WATCH Lite is a great way for existing end users to develop a flavour of the benefits of this new dashboard,” said James Wheeler, regional sales director for Lenel in the UK. “It helps them visualise important security data and develop an overall snapshot of OnGuard system performance. It only takes a matter of seconds to understand system health. Additionally, it gives the user a view into the new look and feel of the next generation of OnGuard systems, as well as underlying technologies such as the new Lenel Services Platform and browser support.”

With OnGuard WATCH Lite, end users can quickly view:

  • Total counts of access panels, readers, inputs, outputs, card holders, active badges, visitors and visits
  • Basic system information about OnGuard and the Windows operating system, SQL server versions and service packs
  • Database back-up details
  • New badges created per day
  • Alarms generated per day
  • System performance (such as CPU, memory usage, hard drive and peak usage)
  • Error logs

For additional ease of use, the date range can display a few days, months or years of captured data while deeper analysis may be conducted into hours and minutes.

OnGuard WATCH Lite is free for customers with a valid software upgrade and support plan and also available as a free 90-day trial for customers without a support plan.

The full version of OnGuard WATCH will be available later this year through Lenel value-added resellers.

Lenel introduces OnGuard 7.0 Security Management Platform for risk and security professionals

Lenel Systems International has announced the release of OnGuard 7.0 – the next generation of its leading security management platform with a host of feature enhancements including faster and improved enterprise cardholder replication performance, new features and certifications for end users and added integrations with other leading third party and UTC Building & Industrial Systems brands.

“We’ve listened to our value-added resellers (VARs) and end user customers and incorporated many of their ideas into this significant new release to make our industry-leading OnGuard platform even better,” said Ross McKay, director of product management, integrated solutions and advanced services at Lenel.

As a result of a new service-oriented architecture (SOA), the Lenel OnGuard 7.0 platform now delivers near-time cardholder replication, providing a significant increase in speed that will directly benefit the largest and most globally distributed users. Cardholder updates are automatically delivered to their target within seconds of changes being made.

Enhancements for the US Government segment include support for IPv6 on both Lenel Access and Security Series hardware platforms, extended user ID (which allows support for large format Government IDs such as FASC-N/UUID) and integration with HID Global’s pivCLASS Government Solutions to provide “authentication at the door” for Government credentials.

Additionally, 7.0 certification for FICAM FIPS-201 is planned to be available shortly after release (FICAM certification is already available with OnGuard 6.6).

Importantly, the IPv6 functionality is also beneficial for customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, although the other added features are only applicable for the US market.

New and improved integrations

The OnGuard 7.0 platform has been further enhanced with the addition of new and improved integrations with UTC Building & Industrial Systems product lines that include the Edwards EST3 life safety control platform, TruVision digital video recorders and network video recorders – supporting the TVR 11, TVR 41 and TVR 60 DVRs and the TVN 20, TVN 21 and TVN 50 NVRs – and the Otis Elevator Company’s CompassPlus destination management system controls.

OnGuard’s video platform, LNVR 7.1, also incorporates a number of new and integrated features requested by VARs and end users via Lenel’s ideas@lenel.com website.

Other new features in OnGuard 7.0 include:

  • Archiving to a secondary database
  • Improved monitoring usability and FIFO alarm handling
  • Alarm acknowledgement instruction hyperlinks
  • Updated support of Casi firmware and hardware migration options
  • Interface capability for ASSA ABLOY Aperio wireless locks
  • Integration with Allegion Schlage AD-400 Wireless and AD-300 Hardwired Locks
  • Compatibility with EDGE EVO from HID Global’s Network Access Control Solutions

OnGuard users continue to benefit from a feature-rich solution that includes web-based applications, a strong video interface with support for more than 350 third party cameras and Lenel’s Open Access Alliance Program with more than 120 partners and 200 product interfaces.

The open architecture design seamlessly integrates a full suite of security management technologies designed for each user’s specific needs right up to the globally dispersed enterprise.

“The OnGuard 7.0 platform has been field-tested and is proven to meet the demands of VARs and large system users,” added McKay. “For customers still using earlier versions of OnGuard, upgrading to 7.0 brings many new features and benefits in addition to enhancements made in the last two service pack releases of 2014.”
