Custodian releases monitoring portal upgrade with promise of “new levels of efficiency” for end users

Custodian Monitoring Services – a recognised leading provider of intruder, fire and life safety systems monitoring – has released a new version of its online TOUCH monitoring portal that affords end users real-time access to a wide range of new reports and capabilities.

Created in response to stakeholder feedback, the new portal offers a broad range of benefits. End users, engineers and installers can now enjoy greater oversight of their buildings and portfolios via this web-based customer portal which places them in control of critical areas such as key holding.

Victoria Waude, head of monitoring sales at Custodian, is adamant that TOUCH users will gain improved levels of access control management.

“End users and installers now have the ability to temporarily suspend and re-instate key holders without delay,” said Waude. “This is extremely useful for those companies looking to manage access when employees go on holiday or are absent.”

Installers can now create and maintain engineer rotas at the touch of a button, anytime and from anywhere.

“The new features are aligned with our approach of designing products and systems that simplify processes and deliver greater operational efficiencies for our customers,” added Waude.

For their part, installers are now also able to upload logos and company information to their TOUCH platform to maintain their corporate identity.

Another feature includes bulk end user registrations, which makes it easier for installers to invite all of their customers to register. In addition, there are further functions in the engineer portal for online testing and event history.

Custodian operates in the UK as Security Monitoring Centres Ltd and is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a business unit of the United Technologies Corporation.

Custodian is one of the UK’s leading NSI Gold Alarm Receiving Centres, providing 24/7 monitoring for its customer base.

TDSi launches EXgarde 4.4 version of integrated security software solution

TDSi has announced the launch of EXgarde 4.4, the latest version of its fully integrated access control solution. EXgarde 4.4 offers a Tenant Event Split option, Elevator Dispatch facility, integration with SimonsVoss’ wireless locking solutions, an updated EXtour Module, a security tours function and a new EXgarde Web Interface.

EXgarde 4.4 adds considerable additional functionality, as Mike Sussman (TDSi’s technical director) explained to Risk UK: “While EXgarde 4.4 shares many functions of previous versions,” said Sussman, “this latest version has been designed to incorporate a wide array of new features which add useful additional value to what’s already a heavily feature-rich and comprehensive security solution.”

Sussman continued: “The new features are designed for a myriad of uses, from giving landlords greater control over access rights to ensuring lift systems work in conjunction with access control through IP connectivity. Equally, we’ve included full integration with SimonsVoss’ wireless locking systems for improved flexibility and scope of installation, updated the EXtour module to assist security teams with their scheduled tours and designed a web interface which will give greater flexibility as to where security operators use and manage EXgarde.”

Tenant Event Split

EXgarde 4.4 allows landlords to partition visibility of system and operator events according to the tenant using them. For example, if EXgarde is overseeing a number of different facilities it will be preferable that tenants are not privy to the details of other sites or properties. Landlords can specify the access and information rights allotted to the user.

Elevator Dispatch

This special function is designed to speed up travel and ease congestion in high traffic buildings. When a key holder enters the access controlled area through the entrance/turnstile, EXgarde informs the elevator system which then calculates the quickest elevator route to their destination floor (and notifies/guides them automatically).

SimonsVoss Integration

The new version of EXgarde features full integration with the SimonsVoss SmartIntego Online locking solutions. When used in conjunction with TDSi’s core systems, this allows greater flexibility in remote areas where access control may be more difficult to implement.

Extour Module update

EXgarde PRO’s Extour Module update allows the end user to pre-define specific security tours using existing access control readers. Each specified tour defines the order in which the readers should be visited along with the set time they should be checked.

Alarms in EXtour indicate in real-time if specific tour points have not been reached, in turn alerting operators to a potential emergency situation.

EXgarde Web Interface

TDSi’s new web interface allows security operators/users to log into the server via their chosen web browser. This permits access to key functionality, such as adding and removing key holders and keys, remote door control, basic reporting and live event monitoring.

EXgarde 4.4 is available in three options to match the applications of the operator/end user:

  • EXgarde Express: Entry level version designed for a single site and up to 32 doors with limited features
  • EXgarde PRO: Advanced level, feature-rich version which is multi-site compatible and can control up to 32 doors. An upgrade to ‘Unlimited’ is also available
  • EXgarde Enterprise: Unlimited door version designed for enterprise-level operations
