Johnson Controls releases CEM Systems DCM 400 four-door intelligent encrypted IP controller

Johnson Controls has announced the introduction of the CEM Systems DCM 400 four-door intelligent encrypted IP controller. It’s an intelligent controller which provides a secure and cost-effective solution for the bi-directional control of up to four doors.

The DCM 400 is designed to directly interface with CEM Systems AC2000 access control system (v10.2 and higher) and Wiegand or CEM Systems approved and supplied Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP v2) smart card readers.

Using powerful 32-bit processors, the DCM 400 gives full offline verification and decision making at the point of entry, with a local cardholder database of up to 500,000 cards and storage of up to 80,000 offline events designed to ensure improved communications and response at the door.

The DCM 400 contains a number of features to improve ease of installation and maintenance. These include an LCD display and a 12-character keypad to allow configuration and troubleshooting directly on the board.

A graphical overlay wiring guide and spare network points on the DCM 400 allow for local access to diagnostic web pages. The enclosure has been designed with a removable door for ease of access, an increased number of punch-outs (20 mm and 25 mm) and cable tie points for improved cable management options.

Smart power features include automatic detection of 10.5 V DC to 28 V DC power supplies. This simplifies installation without the need for jumper-links or configuration.

The DCM 400 dashboard web page, which can be accessed locally and remotely, provides end users’ installers with improved troubleshooting, monitoring and configuration of the DCM 400 and any equipment that’s connected to it.

The DCM 400 is also a future-proof solution for those who wish to migrate from Wiegand readers to more secure OSDP v2 readers. Both can be supported on the same 400 unit.

Tyco champions 2018 Technology Days programme ahead of dedicated C•CURE event for end users

Tyco, the security products division of Johnson Controls, reports that its 2018 Technology Days programme is proving to be a big hit with UK system integrators.

Large numbers of integrators keen to learn about the latest generation of Tyco access control, intruder detection and video surveillance solutions attended Roadshow events at Brands Hatch and the Knockhill racing circuit in Dunfermline during July.

Tyco’s Mobile Exhibition Unit and fleet of demonstration vans are being put to good use at the Technology Days, the next one of which will take place at Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire on 14 September.

Local venues

“System integrators lead busy lives and tell us they don’t always have the time to travel perhaps halfway across the country to attend exhibitions to see demonstrations of new products and technologies,” said Gordon Morrison, GB sales director for the Tyco access control and video brands.

“Our mobile showrooms give us the opportunity to provide ‘hands-on’ demonstrations for system integrators and their end user customers at locations convenient to them. While the Mobile Exhibition Unit is best used at public venues, we’re able to make the demonstration vans available for system integrators in support of their customer-targeted open days.”

C•CURE event for end users

In addition to the Technology Days, Tyco will also be holding a C•CURE End User Event. Many of the large companies who use the C•CURE 9000 security and event management platform have been invited to attend the day which will take place in London on 12 September.

“With the support of key technology partners, we’ll be highlighting how customers can gain maximum benefit from their electronic security solutions with help from C•CURE 9000,” added Morrison. “Equally important, the event is also intended to be a forum for end users to discuss their experiences of using C•CURE 9000 and provide us with feedback on what new features they would wish to see incorporated into future versions of the platform.”

Johnson Controls introduces C•CURE Go Install App from Software House

Johnson Controls has announced the introduction of the C•CURE Go Install App for use with the Software House iSTAR Ultra LT. The new App provides a more efficient and convenient means of configuring or updating information on the iSTAR Ultra LT controller without having to physically access the unit.

Working with an embedded Bluetooth antenna that can be turned on and off remotely to ensure network security, end users simply log into the C•CURE Go Install App to perform a host of tasks, including configuring the network settings on the controller, rebooting the device and checking its status.

The App is ideal for use with iSTAR Ultra LT controllers that are difficult to access for manual configuration, such as those units located high above doorways or perhaps behind ceiling tiles.

CCUREGoInstallApp

The password-protected App works for end users within range of the controller, including in-house security staff, integrators or system installers. Using the App replaces having to make changes on or check status directly from the controller.

“Using the C•CURE Go Install App with the iSTAR Ultra LT minimises the disruption that can be caused by having to access the controller itself,” said Rafael Schrijvers, access control product marketing manager (EMEA) within the Building Technologies & Solutions business at Johnson Controls.

“Increasingly, there are applications, such as hospitals with sealed ceilings, where physical access to the controller just isn’t feasible. Using the intuitive App to perform myriad tasks provides a more efficient option.”

Next generation models of Illustra Flex 3MP IP cameras provide “seamless video capture and viewing experience”

Johnson Controls is introducing the next generation of Illustra Flex 3MP mini-dome, bullet and box cameras with features such as P-iris lenses and TrickleStor technology to provide optimal image quality and reliability, and the convenience and efficiency of bandwidth management of the camera using Illustra IntelliZip compression technology.

Going beyond H.264 and H.265, the embedded Illustra IntelliZip technology monitors and then adjusts system streaming parameters, matching the camera’s field of view activity. The video quality is automatically adjusted when motion is detected to ensure detail quality is maintained. When activity ceases, the video adjusts and optimises the bitrate, in turn helping to reduce network bandwidth usage and video storage requirements.

The new Illustra Flex cameras feature the aforementioned TrickleStor, allowing the cameras to record video at the edge of the network even if an outage takes place. The camera will detect an interruption or stoppage and begin to record video to its SD card. Once the connection between the camera and NVR resumes, TrickleStor will then transfer the video from the SD card to the NVR to ensure uninterrupted video.

3mp-collage

The true Wide Dynamic Range function available across the Flex family line allows cameras viewing a scene with high-contrast lighting to balance shadows and highlights in order to maintain crisp image detail. This feature is ideal for camera deployments where windows or doors are areas of interest.

The family of Flex 3MP cameras is also equipped with a P-iris lens system that works in conjunction with custom software algorithms to provide optimal image quality and sharpness in all possible lighting conditions.

“Providing a high-quality, seamless and economical video experience is at the heart of these latest Illustra Flex introductions,” said Stuart Bettle, video product marketing manager for security products (EMEA) within the Building Technologies & Solutions Division at Johnson Controls. “Whether it’s P-iris to ensure the clearest image, TrickleStor providing end-to-end recording failover or IntelliZip to maximise bandwidth, we’re focused on meeting the needs of our customers on every front.”

The small, aesthetically pleasing Flex 3MP mini-domes are available in indoor and outdoor versions, the latter IP67-rated for protection against dust and water damage and also featuring IR illumination for improved low-light viewing.

The bullet model also offers an IP67-rated enclosure that protects against dust and water damage, making it a top choice for parking areas, garages, loading docks and other areas exposed to the elements. These models also serve as an exterior solution for schools and small-to-medium retail stores, banks and office buildings.

The Flex 3MP box camera is a flexible solution adaptable for any installation or application requirements.
