New face of Vista revealed at IFSEC International 2015

Vista used IFSEC International 2015 as the platform for announcing its exciting new look and direction. This change is visually represented by a fresh new logo which reflects the “clean, modern and progressive” ethos of the brand.

Driving this change was the desire to offer customers a CCTV solution that truly understands their needs and the needs of the market. Obviously, a large part of this rests with the products themselves.

Vista “doesn’t just make the products that everyone else is making”, with the operation “continually innovating, testing new technologies, listening to the market” and “forging new paths”. The result is a family of products that doesn’t always follow the pack, but always offers end users reliability, simplicity and “superb” results.

Vista’s VMS qulu is the epitome of this approach. Now at Version 2.3, qulu has provided the VMS market with a refreshing new approach to video interrogation and has a proven track record within a variety of different industries.

The all-new Vista branding

The all-new Vista branding

It’s not just about the products, though. Vista’s support environment brings together all the expertise and knowledge of a brand that’s been going strong for over 25 years. Vista can provide support every step of the way, from site visits to product demonstrations and on to specification. The business can even remove any risk in end users’ minds by providing demonstrations of products on site.

As well as working closely with integrators, end users and specifiers, Vista has strong partnerships with the other leading brands in the security business sector. Why? It allows Vista to offer customers a greater variety of solutions to best suit their needs.

The recent OEM partnership with global leaders HP for a range of rock solid servers is a great example of how these partnerships are developing. Vista is now also an Axis development partner, ensuring that its software benefits from full integration with Axis technology.

Gary Rowden, divisional director in charge of product management and business development for Norbain, explained: “This is a very exciting time for Vista. After a huge amount of research and development we’re now ready to implement the changes that will offer customers a reliable, innovative and solutions-based CCTV brand. Far more than just products, Vista can offer long-lasting, meaningful and beneficial relationships that help create opportunities and drive business.”

TDSi reports 25% increase in export market visitors to its stand at IFSEC International 2015

Reporting a 25% increase in export market visitors to its stand at IFSEC International 2015, integrated security solutions developer TDSi believes this reflects the continued and rapid expansion of the global security market. Interest at the show also indicated a continued customer demand for fully-integrated solutions rather than just security components.

Post-event, TDSi’s managing director John Davies told Risk: “IFSEC International is a great barometer of the state of the security sector. It was obvious from this year’s event that the market has become truly globalised, with a sizeable increase in visitors travelling from other regions to see the latest and best solutions that the security sector has to offer.”

Davies continued: “I’m also pleased to say that the feedback we had from visitors is that our own approach to fully-integrated security systems is essential in the post-recession market. Rather than just purchasing security products, the evolving security consumer wants intelligent, flexible and comprehensively integrated systems. These are exactly what TDSi offers and continues to research and develop.”

The international nature of the event also confirmed assumptions on the geographical markets’ strengths and weaknesses. “In comparison to China, South East Asia and the Middle East,” urged Davies, “the European market has somewhat plateaued, partially due to a degree of uncertainty still looming over the Euro Zone. In the UK, TDSi is benefiting from a healthy upturn in the market and we anticipate a very healthy growth figure of 10+% this year. This may be partially due to having a new majority UK Government and thus a stable business environment for the next five years, in contrast to the situation that’s pertaining in Europe.”

Security, IT and building control systems

Davies also explained to Risk UK that the demand for security systems designed to work with IT and buildings control systems is rapidly becoming truly global in nature.

“Security operators and consumers have become very well versed in what’s possible,” he said, “largely because of the rise in trends such as the Internet of Things. They now demand this flexibility from all of their technology purchases. These are exciting times with real optimism and increased funding. For their part, providers need to stay on top of demand and offer the very best solutions in what continues to be a highly competitive and ‘savvy’ buyers market.”

There was also a noticeable increase in the volume of new visitors at IFSEC International, as TDSi’s product and marketing manager Sarah Phillips observed during the show (which ran from 16-18 June at London’s ExCeL).

“IFSEC International has always been an excellent opportunity for security solutions providers, installers, integrators, consultants and end users to make contact,” stated Phillips. “That was very apparent this year. IFSEC remains an ideal platform to reacquaint with both existing partners and customers.”

Phillips added: “Many end users approached our team for advice. Naturally, we’re very keen to preserve the channel structure of our business so we do actively refer customers to our partners, but equally this gives us a greater insight into the needs of security operators. This kind of detail is invaluable for our business and product development streams.”

One of the main themes on TDSi’s stand at IFSEC International 2015 was a demonstration of the considerable benefits of using the company’s solutions in conjunction with those produced by other specialist manufacturers, among them Texecom, Milestone Systems, ASSA Abloy and SimonsVoss.

This year, visitors took particular interest in TDSi’s new range of readers (including MIFARE Plus, DESFire and NFC technologies for added security and flexibility) as well as the enhanced web access portal for EXgarde.

In conclusion, Phillips explained: “Visitors are always excited to see brand new products and the readers are one of the staple lines in our product portfolio. IFSEC International is one of the highlights of our year and, with our continued success at the show, that situation will remain so for many years to come.”

Hikvision unveils ‘LightFighter’ ultra-high WDR cameras for security managers

Hikvision has been focusing on extremely high contrast imaging solutions with the launch of its LightFighter Series of 2 Megapixel SMART IP cameras. Each of the new LightFighter camera models incorporates Hikvision’s ultra-high 140 dB Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology for high visibility in brightly lit or high contrast environments. The result is clear, detail-rich images for end users in lighting conditions that would otherwise defeat conventional WDR cameras.

LightFighter: new series of seven cameras
The LightFighter Series consists of seven 2 Megapixel cameras featuring Hikvision’s ultra-high WDR technology to overcome the pitfalls of imaging extreme backlight and high contrast scenes.

The new models include a Smart IP box camera, two outdoor bullet cameras, two outdoor dome cameras and a pair of network PTZ dome cameras with 36x zoom functionality.

All seven LightFighter cameras are capable of rendering Full 1920×1080 HD images at a consistent 60 frames per second, as well as boasting low-light capability for night-time surveillance needs.

140 dB WDR overcomes extreme backlighting and high contrast
Key to the performance of the LightFighter cameras is the WDR system that allows each model to record greater scene details even where the intensity of illumination varies considerably, such as backlighting when very dark and very bright areas appear simultaneously in the field of view.

Although a common feature in CCTV cameras for this reason, the 140 dB WDR in the LightFighter offers 100 times more powerful enhancement than the 120 dB WDR systems of conventional cameras.

LightFighter is particularly suited to intense backlight situations and is the ideal camera for pointing towards windows and entrance doors.

Smart Solution 2.0
The LightFighter camera range is equipped with Hikvision’s full SMART feature set, including face detection, intrusion detection, line-crossing detection, ANPR and object counting that enables the camera to detect any progressively moving object and follow it within the camera’s area of coverage without fault.

Coupled with Hikvision Smart NVR and iVMS-5200 Professional VMS, the complete Smart Solution is set for meeting security demands in vertical markets including the commercial/industrial sector, transportation and banking.

The LightFighter Series
The DS-2CD4025FWD-(A)(P) 2 Megapixel SMART IP box camera features Auto Back Focus and P-Iris while the DS-2CD4A25FWD-IZ(H)(S) 2 Megapixel SMART IP outdoor bullet camera features a motorised varifocal lens with SMART Focus, an IR range of up to 100 metres, SMART Heating and input/output for both alarm and audio.

The DS-2CD4625FWD-IZ (H)(S) is a vandal-proof SMART IP outdoor bullet camera boasting an IP66-rated housing and an improved IR range of up to 150 metres.

The LightFighter range also includes two SMART IP outdoor dome cameras. The DS-2CD4525FWD-IZ (H) features an IR cut filter with an auto switch, SMART Heating and an IR range of up to 50 metres while the DS-2CD4125FWD-IZ has a slightly reduced IR range of anything up to a distance of 30 metres.

Rounding off the LightFighter Series are two 36x network PTZ dome cameras: the DS-2DF6236V-AEL and the DS-2DF8236IV-AEL. Both are equipped with a 1/3″ HD CMOS sensor capable of rendering at Full 1920×1080 HD, 36x optical zoom, SMART Tracking and SMART Detection. In addition, both models feature IK10 vandal-proof housings. The DS-2DF8236IV-AEL boasts long range IR capable of detection and tracking at distances of up to 200 metres.
