Double award triumph for IDIS security camera technology

The H.265 IR PTZ surveillance camera developed by IDIS has achieved the rare distinction of winning two of Germany’s top international design accolades. The innovative camera has scooped both a 2018 International iF Design Award and the Red Dot ‘Seal of Quality’ Award.

The annual iF Design Awards are globally-recognised prizes, this year attracting no less 6,402 entries from 54 countries. The awards have been running since 1954. This time around, the panel of independent expert Judges selected just 65 winners.

Also dating back to the 1950s, the Red Dot Award is now one of the most sought-after quality marks when it comes to recognition of good design. The scheme recognises qualities such as ‘ease of use, high level of functionality, attractive appearance and compatibility with the environment’.

The double-winning entry from IDIS, namely the H.265 IR DC-S3883HRX model, provides clearer images using an 8 MP auto focus lens. It’s equipped with high-powered IR LEDs for motion detection and image analysis of objects at up to 200 metres during night-time conditions. The cameras’ horizontally-placed lenses and IR capabilities are designed to reduce camera height and prevent diffuse reflection during tilt moving. This design feature improves usability with notably smooth movement of the lens head.

IDIS’ winning network PTZ also features a 31x auto focus optical zoom lens delivering 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) resolution, as well as two-way audio, a built-in heater and PoE. In addition, it incorporates IDIS Intelligent Codec and Motion Adaptive Transmission technology, which delivers savings of up to 90% on storage and bandwidth depending upon the scene and resolution.

James Min, managing director of IDIS Europe, has welcomed the iF and Red Dot Awards, duly attributing IDIS’ success to continual investment in product design aimed at superior performance and ease of use.

Min commented: “The IDIS development team is delighted with these international awards because they recognise the importance that we afford to product excellence in surveillance. Our aim is to continually improve on the design, quality and performance of our products and to lead innovation whenever and wherever we can.”

Hanwha Techwin showcases global design competitiveness with double triumph at iF Design Awards

Hanwha Techwin’s BabyView eco monitoring system and its Wisenet Circle Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based security manager application have both won their respective categories in the prestigious 2018 iF Design Awards.

This is the second year Hanwha Techwin products have been recognised by the judges of the prestigious iF Design Awards which, since 1953, have recognised designs that are able to achieve the best results when commercially applied. Regarded as one of the world’s top three design competitions, along with Germany’s Red Dot Design Awards and the US’ International Design Excellence Awards, this year’s competition generated 6,400 entries from 54 countries.

BabyView eco, the winner of the product category, has a unique design and friendly appearance which reflects the features of a baby camera. Available in Europe during the second quarter of 2018, BabyView eco has a long-tail design which can be installed in virtually any location.

Wisenet Circle, which provides object and voice recognition as well as a long list of other functions based on AI, won the Professional Concept category. As a conceptual design suggesting the future direction of Hanwha Techwin’s image security solutions, the application has received favourable reviews for its quick and intuitive implementation of complex security functions.

“It’s a great honour to win at the iF Design Awards again this year,” said Bob Hwang, managing director at Hanwha Techwin Europe. “It follows on from last year’s award for our home security camera. We will continue to research and develop innovative solutions from a user’s perspective and lead the global security market based on our company’s differentiated design and outstanding technical prowess. By winning at the iF Design Awards 2018, the Red Dot Design Awards 2017 and the iF Design Awards 2017 over the last two years, we’ve demonstrated as a business our technical excellence and design competitiveness.”
