Ryanair adopts Ideagen Coruson as new safety and security management system

Ryanair has implemented a new safety and security management system developed by software firm Ideagen. Ideagen Coruson, a cloud-based software product, has been rolled out across Ryanair’s operations to further enhance the company’s safety reporting and risk identification processes and assist the airline in managing regulatory compliance.

Coruson simplifies identification, collection, collation and analysis of all information on safety and security-related events, thus enhancing risk management processes across Ryanair’s Safety, Security, Flight Operations, Ground Operations, Engineering, In-Flight and Health & Safety Departments.

Through this project, Ryanair has become the first airline in Ireland to submit electronic ECCAIR reports in E5X format to the Irish Aviation Authority by dint of using Coruson’s smart form functionality.

David Hornsby, Ideagen’s CEO, said Coruson would be used by more than 10,000 Ryanair employees. “We’re delighted to have won this significant contract with Ryanair. Coruson will be used by more than 10,000 Ryanair employees as part of this project, which will further enhance safety and security processes and ease compliance around the requirements of national and international aviation authorities.”

Hornsby added: “This is a significant project for Ideagen. It strengthens our position in the aviation safety sector. We continue to see strong new business demand for our software and, with 10% of the Tier 1 market currently using our products, we’re confident of further extensive growth in this particular area.”

Ryanair carries 130 million customers every year on more than 1,800 daily flights from 86 bases. The airline connects over 200 destinations in 34 countries on a fleet of over 400 Boeing 737 aircraft, with a further 300 Boeing 737s on order, which will enable Ryanair to lower fares and grow traffic to 200 million passengers by FY24.

Michael Hickey, Ryanair’s COO, said: “Ryanair was one of the first airlines in Europe to recognise the value of data analysis to help improve the safety performance of airlines and is committed to the adoption and integration of enhanced data analysis tools. The introduction of Ideagen Coruson will provide us with a further opportunity to capture and analyse safety and security data in real time both quickly and efficiently and help to ensure that effective risk mitigation is put in place.”

Hickey concluded: “We’re delighted to be working with Ideagen and implementing Coruson which will make our reporting systems more effective and assist us in maintaining and continuously improving our safety and security performance.”

Ideagen is a specialist in the provision of safety management software and services to the aviation industry. The business currently has a global customer base of over 3,000 organisations (including more than 300 airlines) and counts Boeing, Emirates, Thomas Cook, British Airways and KLM among that cohort.

Ideagen launches enterprise safety management and incident reporting software dubbed Ideagen Coruson

Software firm Ideagen has launched Ideagen Coruson – a “definitive and visionary” re-brand of its enterprise safety management and incident reporting software. Gael Enlighten, a cloud-based software solution used by some of the world’s leading brands including Virgin Trains, Telefonica and Haeco Group, will now be known as Ideagen Coruson.

The re-brand project comes as Ideagen seeks to align its product portfolio following several successful acquisitions in recent years. The Gael Enlighten software was part of the Intellectual Property purchased in the £18 million acquisition of Gael Ltd back in December 2014.

Ideagen CEO David Hornsby said the time had come to ‘retire’ the Gael brand. “We’re delighted to announce the renaming of Gael Enlighten to Ideagen Coruson which will modernise the product brand and bring it into conformity with the rest of our product suite. As an important part of Ideagen’s portfolio of governance, risk and compliance applications, Coruson has matured over the past two years and has many high-profile customers. The application is fully ‘productised’, commercialised and generally available and, given its visionary nature, the time has come to retire the Gael brand name and launch the definitive version of the product brand.”

Hornsby added: “These are exciting times for Ideagen as an organisation and we’re looking forward to Ideagen Coruson playing an integral role in the company’s future success.”

Ideagen Coruson is currently used by some of the world’s leading brands as well as organisations with extensive global reach including the UK Rail Safety and Standards Board, Haeco, Virgin Trains, Johnson Matthey, Air Transat, Telefonica and A2 Milk.

Ben Dorks, Ideagen’s chief customer officer, explained to Risk UK: “This is an exciting announcement and an ambitiously significant re-brand of one of our most prominent, market-leading products. We’re delighted that the re-branding project has been welcomed by our customers. Ideagen Coruson comes with a fresh new colour palette and appearance, but the popular architecture and roadmap of the software remains entirely the same. This cements its place as the most user-friendly enterprise cloud safety and incident reporting software on the market.”

Ideagen releases latest version of Pentana with improved user interface and browser-based risk management

Ideagen has released the latest version of its risk-based audit automation software which comprises a substantially enhanced user experience and new features to support browser-based risk management.

Ideagen Pentana Version 5 provides web access to audit findings, custom fields and user defined views to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of assurance processes.

Building on the Web Actions feature introduced in Version 4.2, Pentana Version 5.0 brings several more important end user tools to the browser interface including Web Risks, Web Findings and Web Views.

User experience improvements include improved performance when producing reports, multilingual ‘pick lists’ to let users see UI and system messages in their own language and a new look and feel to bring it into line with other Ideagen-federated products.

Ken Ebbage, Ideagen’s head of products, said: “Ideagen Pentana is trusted and used by over 450 clients worldwide and offers a complete solution for risk-based auditing. The product leverages Ideagen’s enterprise risk management expertise and technology base to deliver ambitious organisational governance objectives and high operational performance.”

Ebbage added: “In Version 5, we’ve built in a host of improvements with the end user experience in mind, but perhaps the most important innovation in the latest version of the software is the ability to manage and assess entity risks and controls via a web browser. This affords business user departments a simple interface to self-assess their own risk registers without having to load the full software. This is invaluable for Sarbanes-Oxley and other internal control applications.”

Ideagen Pentana Version 5 will be supplied as a free upgrade to Ideagen’s existing supported client base, including those who upgrade from the company’s legacy Pentana Audit Work System. With the latest release, Ideagen has federated Pentana with other products in its portfolio, among them Q-Pulse.
