We look forward to hearing the result when it’s announced in July.”

EXgarde is a fully-featured access management PC software application that combines an intuitive GUI and powerful integration capabilities in a single package. Supporting multiple doors as standard, with the option to extend this with an unlimited door licence, EXgarde meets the needs of even the largest of access control networks.

TDSi Benchmark Finalist

With EXgarde, integration and expansion are key features and there are numerous possibilities to integrate with the latest CCTV and biometric technologies. The software is compatible with many otherwise disparate security systems, both from TDSi and other manufacturers, including third party ODBC databases (using SDK or predefined protocol), building management, fire and intruder systems, DVR equipment and biometric readers.

Leading compatible systems include Milestone Systems’ XProtect Access and the recently-launched ASSA Abloy’s KS100 server wireless cabinet electronic lock as well as SimonsVoss’ SmartIntego online locking solutions, Texecom’s Premier and Premier Elite range of intruder alarms and  ASSA Abloy’s Aperio wireless locking technology, along with TDSi’s own VUgarde2 IP CCTV VMS software and advanced DIGIgarde readers.

Recent additions to EXgarde include a Tenant Event Split option, an Elevator Dispatch facility and a security tours function.

Wavestore releases Version 6 of award-winning Video Management Software

Wavestore has announced the introduction of additional features and functionality in its new V6 Video Management Software (VMS) and WaveView client software.

Known for providing leading system integrity and user friendliness, many major improvements have been incorporated within Wavestore V6 with the objective of enabling end users to securely and more easily “unlock the full potential” of an integrated security system.

Widely referred to as the ‘operator’s favourite GUI’, Wavestore’s graphical display has been revised with a fresh new look featuring updated icons and graphics, making it even more intuitive to use. The addition of dockable components and ‘configurability’ of the live event stream window provides an enhanced user experience which allows individual operators to arrive at their pre-customised screen layouts each time they log in.

V6 also introduces camera short-cut keys using the keyboard number pad for added convenience and security enhancements to protect against malicious hacking attempts, including enhanced encryption and a high-security password policy.

“Many of the new or updated features in V6 have been developed as a direct result of feedback from our worldwide network of customers,” said Julian Inman, product manager at Wavestore. “For example, Wavestore’s client side de-warping feature, which supports a wide range of 360 degree cameras, now offers greater flexibility by enabling the cameras to be fitted on angled surfaces, and not just flat ceilings or walls. We’ve also added full SDK integration with ImmerVision lenses and Oncam cameras.”

V6 maintains Wavestore’s ‘any video, any format’ philosophy which sees it supporting all leading camera vendors across multiple camera technologies. These include very high megapixel, Ultra HD, 4K, HD, 360° fisheye, thermal and analogue cameras operating on H.264, MJPEG, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MxPEG and JPEG2000 video formats.

Improved support for larger systems

As the result of an update incorporated within V6, Wavestore’s proprietary Large Allocated Storage System (LASS) now empowers the VMS to manage an industry-leading 384 Petabytes of data per server. As such,V6 claims to set a new industry benchmark for Enterprise level applications with effectively no limit to the mass of images it can manage. The calculation and system design process is also greatly simplified.

Intelligent failover is now also available at Wavestore Enterprise level to ensure minimal disruption to recording should a fault occur, and to deliver resilience and peace of mind for mission-critical applications.

“We’ve made it as flexible as possible for specifiers and systems integrators to choose the right level of software required for a each project, while our simple ‘buy once’ licence model enables additional licenses to be purchased if and when a system grows,” explained Inman.

“Wavestore can be cost-effectively deployed for small to medium-size projects with either our Base or Premium levels of software, and then upgraded when required to Enterprise level for larger or more critical applications.”

icomply partners with TIS in security upgrade project for Boots UK

icomply has recently partnered with TIS – one of the UK’s leading independent fire, security and communications specialists – in a project designed to overhaul the security systems operated by Boots UK.

The Security Control Room at Boots UK required an update, with many of the current analogue hardware deemed unfit for purpose and data gathering sometimes proving to be a difficult process.

The proposed solution consisted of upgrading 22 CRT monitors within the Control Room to just 8 LCD flat screens which would serve as a versatile and responsive display area for the network of cameras. Not only would this free up space in the Control Room, in turn making organisation and data collection a whole lot easier, but it also meant that more areas could be surveyed at any given time while the detail captured would be clearer and easier to record.

From icomply’s perspective, there was much work to do in what was a relatively short space of time. Centralised server software had to be installed in order to enable connectivity between the IP CCTV, IDS, intercom and access control systems while the central operator control system demanded involvement from a more general perspective.

As stated, one of the biggest challenges was integrating the platform with varying equipment and different manufacturers’ devices. These included the Synectics matrix integration, PC232 integration and HIK and NVR integration.

Completely overhauled security regime

The end result is a completely overhauled system. The single front-end graphical user interface can be used effectively not only to gather and record data but also to review that information.

What Boots now has in its UK Control Room is a GUI with easier navigation and mapping which also unifies all technology in one intuitive space, in turn saving on desk space and making sure that Boots is absolutely ready for the next generation of security technology when it emerges without having to compromise in the short term.

Speaking about the project, Nick Hollins of TIS told Risk UK: “Boots UK is one of my key accounts, and when TIS was asked to look at upgrading the CCTV Control Room it was imperative that the solution I proposed was not only fit for purpose but also offered a significant improvement on the existing CCTV system. Of course, we also had to be mindful of the budget.”

Hollins added: “The assistance received from icomply all the way through this project was exceptional. Business development director Michael Gallagher was always was on hand to offer a technical solution and provide a quotation that was within budget and both the installation and post-installation support was of the very highest standards. This project was delivered on time, within budget and met our end user customers’ high standards and expectations. This was down to the teamwork and professionalism of both TIS and icomply.”
