Griffin Security Solutions is offering an externally accredited and approved Masters level course – the Higher Certificate in Security Risk Management – which features a combination of blended learning and an online programme with tutor support throughout.
While the Griffin course is a recognised qualification in its own right, it’s also complementary and specifically designed to help prepare students for the rigours of undertaking study at the highest level.
The programme of education provides a pathway – and guaranteed entry – for successful students to join the post-graduate security management study programme run by Loughborough University, eventually leading to the award of an MSc in Security Management.
Pre-requisites for attending the new Griffin Security course are a Certificate/Diploma in Security Management, a CPP/PSP/Level 5 course in a related discipline or at least five years’ experience at a middle/senior security management level.
What the course covers
The course covers in-depth study of academic writing/research skills, an introduction to security and security management, risk and risk assessments, crime reduction through environmental design, security surveying, physical and electronic security systems, security project management, the principles of law, corporate security, cost benefit analyses, business communication, business continuity management, crisis management and disaster recovery, supply chain security, information security management, maritime and aviation security, counter-terrorism, retail security and conflict management.
In terms of course format and assessment, the initial commitment runs to 40 hours of classroom-based teaching followed by a further 160 hours of personal study. This will ensure the 4,000-word assignment that needs to be produced by candidates absolutely meets the required academic standards.
The classroom experience will focus on the core aspects of security risk management together with the crucial dimensions of academic essay writing and research techniques.
