Percepto to operate live overseas autonomous drone missions from IFSEC International

Percepto, the autonomous industrial drone solutions developer, has announced that it will operate and broadcast live overseas autonomous drone missions from Stand IF2146 at IFSEC International 2019 (which runs at London’s ExCeL from 18-20 June). The company will also launch the next generation of its industrial and enterprise grade ‘Drone-in-a-Box’ system solution, including new software improvements and an enhanced all-weather base station.

This is the first time that Percepto has brought its autonomous drone solution to the UK and Europe’s leading security event. The company will afford security practitioners the opportunity to discover how current drone technology can be used to improve security and safety, reduce risk and optimise operations.

On Wednesday 19 June at 11.00 am, Percepto is hosting an exclusive media event including a live broadcast of an autonomous drone mission being carried out in Israel. There will also be a Q&A session with Ariel Avitan, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Percepto, who informed Risk Xtra: “We will demonstrate how the Percepto solution delivers aerial surveillance through patrols, real-time detection and tracking of humans and vehicles, as well as anomaly detection, all without the need for an on-site operator or pilot.”

Visitors to IFSEC International will witness how Percepto’s Sparrow drones take-off automatically to perform pre-scheduled missions such as patrolling a perimeter. Should a drone detect an object of interest (ie a person or a vehicle in a restricted area), an alert is automatically triggered and the Control Room operator is able to instantly view the real-time camera footage as the drone tracks the object.

Sparrow drones can also be used as first responders when launched on-demand by an operator or when triggered via an integrated system such as a smart fence.

Once a mission has been completed, the drone returns to its base station – a highly secure enclosed weather-proof box stationed in the field – where automated post-flight checks and fast battery charging is completed, ensuring the drone is primed for the next mission. Percepto’s all-new base station is a key feature of its next generation release and will be on display for the first time at IFSEC International.

“Drones will become part of the fabric of security and surveillance operations,” added Avitan. “Whether deployed stand-alone or fully integrated with the Control Room’s VMS or other security systems, Percepto’s drones provide today’s security teams with a level of aerial surveillance that was once inconceivable and unattainable for the majority of large-scale enterprises.”

Securitas celebrates success in regional stages of BSIA’s Security Personnel Awards 2018

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has announced the regional winners of its Security Personnel Awards for 2018, and Securitas is delighted to have winners in three categories. The awards recognise the talent, dedication, skill and bravery exhibited by security personnel in their roles.

Security personnel are recognised in five categories: Service to the Customer, Outstanding Act, Best Use of Technology, Best Team and Best Newcomer.

Securitas officers Ramraj Sooknanan and Matt Bolger have been successful in the Service to the Customer category. Sooknanan has worked at his client site for 24 years, demonstrating true dedication to his role and responsibilities. Bolger started work on his client site in 2014, and his professionalism has seen him progress quickly and establish himself as a key part of the security team.

Samantha Golding, service delivery manager, has received the Best Newcomer Award. Starting as a relief officer in 2017, Golding’s integrity and commitment has seen her promoted from officer to service delivery manager in a short space of time.

Alison Ridge and David Prosser have been recognised in the category of Outstanding Act. The pair administered life-saving CPR, including by using a defibrillator, to an individual who had collapsed on-site. Their timely actions proved vital as they waited for the Emergency Services to attend the scene.

James Kelly, CEO of the BSIA, said: “It’s important that we recognise the true value of security personnel. They are often the first responders in times of emergency and play a vital role in keeping the public safe. This year’s Security Personnel Awards regional winners are testament to the truly high calibre of personnel we have working within our industry.”

Grainne Kelly, Human Resources director and also Operations Centre director at Securitas, commented: “At Securitas, people are at the heart of our protective services. Our officers in particular are the backbone of the security we deliver. They face a more challenging security environment than ever before. It’s fantastic to see Ramraj, Matt, Samantha, Alison and David recognised by the BSIA for their vigilance and dedication.”

All regional winners now progress to the national finals stage of the British Security Awards, to be held in London on 11 July in conjunction with the BSIA’s Annual Luncheon.

The HeiTel by Xtralis Nano transmitter provides for the reliable transmission of live and recorded video, bi-directional audio and GPS information over wireless technologies including 4G, LTE and CDMA mobile phone technology as well as satellite, Wi-Fi and broadband networks.

The Nano transmitter is battery-powered and works with a wide variety of cameras. It’s ideal for body-worn vest configurations.

For its part, the live and recorded video may be accessed remotely from a Control Room, PC, laptop, iPad, PDA, iPhone or Android device. It’s possible for six people to access the images simultaneously in different places via different methods.

“We’re extremely proud to have won a PSI Award three years in a row,” commented Mick Goodfellow, vice-president of European sales at Xtralis. “Being chosen by professional security installers over six other solutions is a clear validation that Xtralis continues to deliver value and innovation for the security market.”

Goodfellow added: “Worldwide interest in iRespond and the Nano transmitter is incredible as first responders embrace Xtralis technology for efficient threat response. These solutions not only protect end customers, but also reduce risk and increase the overall effectiveness of first responders.”
