Integrated security manufacturer TDSi is pleased to announce details of its education programme to be conducted in the Tavcom Training Theatre at IFSEC International 2017. The schedule includes three presentations focusing on wireless locking, combining physical and cyber security in the cloud and open platforms. TDSi will also participate in a panel discussion on the future of access control.

TDSi’s managing director John Davies will be making specific presentations on all three days of the event from 12.30 pm until 1.30 pm. On Tuesday 20 June, Davies will be talking about ‘Enhancing Security and Reducing Installation Time and Hassle with Wireless Locking’. The presentation on Wednesday 21 June focuses on ‘The Future of Open Platforms’ and, on Thursday 22 June, Davies will cover ‘The Benefits of Combining Physical and Cyber Security in the Cloud’.

Davies is one of a group of industry experts participating in a panel discussion on Wednesday 21 June from 2.00 pm-2.50 pm under the heading ‘The Future of Access Control’. He’ll be joined by Gareth Ellams (managing director of ASSA Abloy), Tony Smith (major accounts and marketing manager at Integrated Design) and Spencer Marshall, regional sales director at HID Global.

“TDSi is committed to educating the security market,” urged Davies, “so it makes perfect sense that we’re partnering with our good friends at Tavcom and sponsoring the Tavcom Theatre [Stand B1250] this year. We’re also looking forward to engaging with an audience of security professionals and consumers to discuss key trends and look at some of the exciting developments in the security sphere which are shaping its future and, indeed, already having a profound effect.”

Synopses of the presentations

‘Enhancing Security and Reducing Installation Time and Hassle with Wireless Locking’

Wireless solutions are revolutionising the installation, administration and operation of physical security and access control systems. In this seminar, TDSi and Darren Gill from ASSA Abloy will demonstrate the considerable benefits of using wireless locking systems to effectively enhance any integrated security system.

‘The Future of Open Platforms’

TDSi along with Jarod Booth (regional security manager at Anixter) will discuss the impact of open platform systems and the benefits of ONVIF compliance, as well as answering questions from the floor, in turn addressing queries and concerns from the wider security industry.

‘The Benefits of Combining Physical and Cyber Security in the Cloud’

Cloud-hosted security systems offer greater flexibility, convenience and control while at the same time maintaining the highest levels of protection. TDSi will showcase how Cloud hosting of systems benefits security operators and installers by offering the ideal solution at the right cost.

Alongside the programme of seminars and panel debates, TDSi will be running its own Technology Showcase. This will include live demonstrations for the company’s customers and partners. Additionally, TDSi’s systems will be on display on its distribution partner Anixter’s Stand (D1050), while TDSi’s EXgarde security software and controllers will be part of the display on the Suprema Stand (D1400), both of which are in the main hall at London’s ExCeL.

TDSi reports 25% increase in export market visitors to its stand at IFSEC International 2015

Reporting a 25% increase in export market visitors to its stand at IFSEC International 2015, integrated security solutions developer TDSi believes this reflects the continued and rapid expansion of the global security market. Interest at the show also indicated a continued customer demand for fully-integrated solutions rather than just security components.

Post-event, TDSi’s managing director John Davies told Risk: “IFSEC International is a great barometer of the state of the security sector. It was obvious from this year’s event that the market has become truly globalised, with a sizeable increase in visitors travelling from other regions to see the latest and best solutions that the security sector has to offer.”

Davies continued: “I’m also pleased to say that the feedback we had from visitors is that our own approach to fully-integrated security systems is essential in the post-recession market. Rather than just purchasing security products, the evolving security consumer wants intelligent, flexible and comprehensively integrated systems. These are exactly what TDSi offers and continues to research and develop.”

The international nature of the event also confirmed assumptions on the geographical markets’ strengths and weaknesses. “In comparison to China, South East Asia and the Middle East,” urged Davies, “the European market has somewhat plateaued, partially due to a degree of uncertainty still looming over the Euro Zone. In the UK, TDSi is benefiting from a healthy upturn in the market and we anticipate a very healthy growth figure of 10+% this year. This may be partially due to having a new majority UK Government and thus a stable business environment for the next five years, in contrast to the situation that’s pertaining in Europe.”

Security, IT and building control systems

Davies also explained to Risk UK that the demand for security systems designed to work with IT and buildings control systems is rapidly becoming truly global in nature.

“Security operators and consumers have become very well versed in what’s possible,” he said, “largely because of the rise in trends such as the Internet of Things. They now demand this flexibility from all of their technology purchases. These are exciting times with real optimism and increased funding. For their part, providers need to stay on top of demand and offer the very best solutions in what continues to be a highly competitive and ‘savvy’ buyers market.”

There was also a noticeable increase in the volume of new visitors at IFSEC International, as TDSi’s product and marketing manager Sarah Phillips observed during the show (which ran from 16-18 June at London’s ExCeL).

“IFSEC International has always been an excellent opportunity for security solutions providers, installers, integrators, consultants and end users to make contact,” stated Phillips. “That was very apparent this year. IFSEC remains an ideal platform to reacquaint with both existing partners and customers.”

Phillips added: “Many end users approached our team for advice. Naturally, we’re very keen to preserve the channel structure of our business so we do actively refer customers to our partners, but equally this gives us a greater insight into the needs of security operators. This kind of detail is invaluable for our business and product development streams.”

One of the main themes on TDSi’s stand at IFSEC International 2015 was a demonstration of the considerable benefits of using the company’s solutions in conjunction with those produced by other specialist manufacturers, among them Texecom, Milestone Systems, ASSA Abloy and SimonsVoss.

This year, visitors took particular interest in TDSi’s new range of readers (including MIFARE Plus, DESFire and NFC technologies for added security and flexibility) as well as the enhanced web access portal for EXgarde.

In conclusion, Phillips explained: “Visitors are always excited to see brand new products and the readers are one of the staple lines in our product portfolio. IFSEC International is one of the highlights of our year and, with our continued success at the show, that situation will remain so for many years to come.”

TDSi to introduce benefits of MIFARE Plus and DESFire compatible readers at IFSEC International 2015

Integrated security solutions developer TDSi will be introducing the benefits of its new range of readers to visitors on Stand F1100 at IFSEC International 2015. Models in the range, which include new versions of the company’s MIFARE and Proximity Readers, are all compatible with MIFARE Plus and DESFire for added end user security and flexibility.

The new range of readers is an important addition to TDSi’s product catalogue. “Readers are a staple ingredient for many security access systems,” said managing director John Davies, “so we’ve listened closely to our customers, installers and partners to ensure these products offer exactly what’s needed and that we can stay ahead of the curve with regards to real security requirements.”

MIFARE Plus compatibility was highlighted as a central component in the development of the new TDSi readers. MIFARE Plus and DESFire technology provides even higher levels of security while maintaining the flexibility and affordability which has made the original MIFARE technology so popular.

Research suggests that installing/upgrading and using the MIFARE Plus and DESFire reader technology can cut the threat from cloned cards by 50%. For a small difference in cost, the end user customer can achieve the peace of mind of a more secure platform.

With backwards compatibility and several variant combinations, the new readers also ensure previous card reading investments are not made redundant by an upgrade and are suitable for all applications. This also offers the option to operate different types of cards on the same network, continuing the use of existing cards where appropriate until a full upgrade is ready to be implemented.

As well as the new readers, TDSi will also be showcasing the variety and versatility of its security product range, from one door applications through to multi-site systems. On display will be the company’s SOLOgarde, MICROgarde and EXcel controllers, as well as TDSi’s enterprise solutions, along with the combined possibilities of its software products (including EXgarde security management and VUgarde CCTV software integration).

Stand F1100 will be showing visitors the integration options of TDSi’s products with the expert security systems of other providers. Product and marketing manager Sarah Phillips told Risk UK: “The latest version of our complete security solution, EXgarde 4.4, has been designed to operate with the systems of other specialist providers in their field. This includes Milestone’s video surveillance solutions, Simons Voss’ wireless locking products, ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio locking systems and Texecom’s intruder systems.”

The company will also be presenting the considerable benefits of joining its partner scheme, which includes support for growth and business development for members, as well as offering comprehensive technical support.

Phillips concluded: “We’re keen to discuss how our partner programme has been developed to fully meet individual customer needs and to ensure that our partners receive the exact level of support they need. The TDSi team will be available on Stand F1100 throughout IFSEC International 2015 to talk to visitors whatever their security needs.”

TDSi reaps benefits from solutions partnership with Assa Abloy

Leading integrated access control solutions specialist TDSi is reaping the benefits of being integrated with Assa Abloy Access Control’s Aperio locking system.

TDSi became the first to partner with Assa Abloy Access Control’s popular Aperio wireless locking solutions which are designed to use innovative IP hub technology in delivering “sustainable total building security”.

Aperio was featured on TDSi’s stand at IFSEC International, operating with its EXgarde 4.2 fully-featured access management system designed to support multiple doors as standard. There’s also an option to extend using an unlimited door licence and meet end user requirements for even the largest of access control networks.

John Davies, TDSi’s managing director (who was named in IFSEC International’s Top 40 listing of the most influential people in the security world), said: “By connecting with Assa Abloy Access Control’s Aperio IP hub technology, we can present a simple installation solution with greater flexibility to upgrade the controllability and security level of any premises. IFSEC International 2014 represented the perfect opportunity for us to demonstrate this to our customers and stand visitors.”

Integration with TDSi’s EXgarde solution

The Aperio range of cylinders, locks and escutcheons integrate with TDSi’s Exgarde via Aperio IP hub technology. By using Aperio in this way, TDSi supports MIFARE and 125 KHz credentials to provide an overall solution that’s cost-effective for the end user, with minimal modification needed to doors and premises.

The added advantage is that Aperio can assist in bringing down energy usage as well as carbon dioxide consumption due to the long battery life. Overall, this means access control solutions may be extended even further across a site at a lower cost per door.

Damian Marsh, the managing director at Assa Abloy Access Control UK, added: “Aperio is well recognised as an extremely cost-effective and sustainable way of eliminating key control issues. By way of example, White Paper research proves it can save at least £9,800 in running and maintenance costs for a typical 1,000 unit student accommodation block when compared to wired access control doors.”

Marsh continued: “However, building an innovative product is not enough on its own. This is where working closely with our OEM customers and access control specialists is vital. Assa Abloy Access Control has continued a positive working relationship with TDSi, and the company’s capability and the successful integration only works to further enhance our joint business philosophy to deliver real additional value to the proposition offered to our customers.”

Assa Abloy Access Control is a division of Assa Abloy, a global leader in door opening solutions dedicated to satisfying end user needs when it comes to security, safety and convenience. For further information on the complete Aperio product portfolio visit: http://www.assaasbloy.com/aperio
