AMG releases all-new AMG750 Series industrial grade cellular router

AMG SYSTEMS, the manufacturer of specialist Ethernet transmission solutions for the security and critical infrastructure markets, has just issued its AMG750 Series industrial grade 4G/LTE router.

Providing remote cellular connectivity, the AMG750 Series 4G/LTE industrial router features advanced dual SIM fail-over and WAN load balancing. The fail-over function itself provides an emergency redundant path, meaning that if the primary WAN connection is lost, the router can automatically switch to a 4G/LTE wireless connection, thereby “guaranteeing” maximum network reliability for the host organisation.

The AMG750 Series’ automatic connectivity switching is essential wherever network uptime is critical for security and/or safety operations, such as within the remote deployment of life safety systems for oil and gas sector applications, or alternatively within the transportation sector. Here, a 4G back-up path is required in addition to a DSL connection.

The router’s load balancing feature achieves a ‘uniform’ traffic balance in order to make the best use of available bandwidth or to distribute traffic according to a set of rules defining which WAN feed should be employed for a given data or connection type. According to AMG Systems, this functionality affords “a superior quality of service” and particularly so within mission-critical systems.

Wireless connection

In addition to a USB port for device-logging functions, the AMG750 Series router features a dual band 2.4/5 GHz wireless connection specifically for local Wi-Fi access and supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.

Offering installers and end users alike peace of mind in addition to “the highest level” of system reliability, the AMG750 Series features dual power supply inputs along with a wide input range from 24 V DC through to 56 V DC.

In addition, fully-integrated voltage boosting technology ensures that reliable IEEE 802.3at 30 W PoE+ can be supplied to all four Ethernet ports, even when being powered by 24 V DC sources. Extending system flexibility, the industrial router can cater for legacy equipment via its RS232/485 serial data channel and may be either wall or DIN rail mounted.

“Ideal for rapid deployment, the AMG750 Series allows connectivity in scenarios where a wired connection isn’t possible,” explained Tom Exley, technical director at AMG Systems. “The Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and cellular WAN can be combined for load balancing or fail-over applications and is particularly suited to the demands of security, transportation and energy applications. The fully-integrated four-port Gigabit PoE+ Ethernet switch offers a ‘single box’-style approach for remote transmission solutions.”

The integration enables all the components of the intercom system – ie camera, microphone, speaker and button – to be monitored and controlled from the Xprotect interface.

The VMS enables users to record video via the event button or via motion detection, record audio, trigger actions via the rule engine (such as the display on a matrix or on Xprotect’s dynamic image wall), send pre-recorded messages to the intercom’s speaker, reassign an alarm and display a flashing icon in the case of detection.

“Interoperability between Castel’s intercom systems and video management systems is now a key demand from our markets, with developments in the latest Xellip2 intercom range offering the perfect answer to this challenge,” explained Atmane Bensghir, business development manager at Castel. “This integration with Milestone’s VMS puts end users firmly in control, enabling them to manage their video entry and security systems using a single interface.”

The easy integration of the Xellip 2, combined with the XProtect access module, enriches the Milestone Smartclient with an integrated intercom client. This module allows the display of a pop-up alert to pinpoint a call made from an intercom.

Milestone Access pop-up notification enables video monitoring at the relevant intercom and two-way audio communication with the intercom directly from the Milestone Smartclient, as well as the opening of a door and association of intercom information with access control data.

Bosch Security Systems introduces AVIOTEC video-based fire detection

Bosch Security Systems has introduced AVIOTEC, a new solution for reliable and early fire detection in challenging environments.

Building upon proven Bosch camera technology and Bosch’s Intelligent Video Analysis (IVA), video-based fire detection can supplement state-of-the-art fire detection technologies and enables the early detection of smoke and flames in environments where these cannot offer satisfactory reaction times (such as buildings with high ceilings or dusty and humid areas).

AVIOTEC can also secure environments where no other solutions exist, for example saw mills or paper factories, hangars or extremely large monitoring areas.

Detect fire at the source

Using intelligent algorithms in surveillance cameras, AVIOTEC can identify smoke and flames as soon as they come into the range of the camera instead of having to wait for smoke to migrate to state-of-the-art smoke detectors.

By detecting fires at the source rather than the ceiling, cameras can issue an alarm within seconds while for point detectors it can take minutes to detect an alarm condition.

AVIOTEC is based on intelligent algorithms to distinguish between real fires and disturbance values like reflections, movements or backlights. This guarantees a very reliable detection with almost no false alarms.

AVIOTEC offers proven detection reliability in all test fires (TF1 through TF8) as specified in EN54.

The video-based fire detection system AVIOTEC scales well from a single camera to a networked system of distributed cameras with a central console and management system. Using Bosch’s Dynamic Transcoding technology, it can relay alarms to an existing fire alarm panel or transmit them via Ethernet to a monitoring centre or even a mobile device like an iPad. Receiving HD quality video images in real-time gives the firefighters a good understanding of the current situation even before they arrive on the scene.

Combining safety and security

Cameras are easy to install and require very little maintenance in contrast to state-of-the-art smoke and flame detectors.

The use of PoE cameras (Power over Ethernet) can eliminate the need for individual power supplies and power cables, making AVIOTEC even more cost efficient.

AVIOTEC can also be used for very small and distributed facilities such as power stations and signal boxes where the benefit does not justify the installation of fire panels.
