Advanced video surveillance solutions from IDIS showcased at Security Essen

The very latest advances in secure surveillance technology, engineered entirely in Korea, are being demonstrated by IDIS on Stand E10 in Hall 5 at Security Essen, which runs from 25-28 September.

The IDIS Total Solution is increasingly being preferred by major end users globally because it offers the advantages of secure, exclusively Korean design and manufacturing, as well as “outstanding performance” in all applications.

Important innovations on show at Security Essen include IDIS’ flagship DirectIP solution, a full array of IP cameras (including Full-HD and 4K models), NVRs, network accessories and monitors, new privacy masking features to support end user compliance with data protection regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the IDIS Center (which typically delivers 50% cost savings on centralised monitoring systems in comparison with server-based solutions) and “game-changing Artificial Intelligence”.

Deep Learning Analytics

Proving to be the biggest draw for visitors this week is the latest iteration of IDIS’ Deep Learning Analytics (IDLA) technology that has opened a new door to the future of video analytics with “groundbreaking” 96% accuracy combined with a 200 ips speed allowing for the analysis of 32 channels simultaneously.

These exciting advances in video analytics make IDLA “more accurate, faster and more scalable” than competitive offerings. IDLA provides agile appearance searching, object detection and classification (for example people, cars and bicycles) intrusion detection, as well as loitering detection: all adapted to fit a 16:9 ratio.

The IDLA engine offers this “unrivalled accuracy” thanks to its advanced deep network architecture. IDLA is easy to set up and use simply by setting the region of interest and sensitivity. No calibration is needed.

Further, since IDLA doesn’t require additional processing power, end users can progress legacy hardware and cameras to transform their existing surveillance system into a powerful Artificial Intelligence solution.

Version 2.0 will be commercially available early next year. End users will be able to access both standard and advanced functionality, such as appearance search, through a single and affordable licence. Object detection and classification, intruder detection and loitering analytics are already available for users of the IDIS Solution Suite VMS.

IDIS DirectIP

Making its major exhibition debut in Germany, IDIS DirectIP is a true plug-and-play, end-to-end IP surveillance platform which offers “industry-leading” ease of use and performance. Consisting of IP cameras, NVRs, network equipment and totally cost-effective IDIS Center software, IDIS DirectIP is a complete package that’s easy to install, secure, flexible and scalable. It’s compatible with legacy systems and supports third party and ONVIF protocols for maximum installation flexibility. DirectIP provides users with Best in Class performance. Combined with the seven-year IDIS Ultimate Warranty, it’s affordable and cost-effective to run.

Visitors to Hall 5 are also learning about how IDIS Dynamic Privacy Masking is supporting users in complying with privacy legislation. IDIS Dynamic Privacy Masking securely masks areas of interest without transcoding, allowing end users to protect the privacy of selected individuals, for example bystanders, in any video footage which is being used as evidence in a Court of Law.

Together, these advances offer end users, installers, consultants and distributors new levels of system-building flexibility and security with significant cost advantages.

Joon Jun, president of IDIS’ Global Business Division, stated: “IDIS technology is now recognised as a trusted and premium brand. It’s being adopted by major users around the world. This success is thanks to our commitment to highly secure manufacturing – which is exclusively Korean – and innovative design which keeps us at the very forefront of the video surveillance sector.”

IDIS cuts the ribbon on new UK office

To support continued robust growth and an expanding customer base, IDIS has opened new offices and training facilities in London.  Remaining in the recently refurbished The Mille in Brentford, the new facility features significant additional desk and recreational space and meeting rooms and doubles the capacity of the company’s training and demonstration facility.

Over the last two years, IDIS has significantly grown its sales force in the UK as well as strengthening its technical support team. This growth has corresponded with a larger partner network and customer base that has seen the demand for IDIS product demonstrations and training soar.

Brian Song, managing director of IDIS Europe, said: “Our new UK office is testament to the growth surge IDIS has experienced over the last four years. Since the launch of our own brand business in 2013, we’ve expanded our workforce and infrastructure both here in the UK and at our global headquarters and manufacturing facility just outside Seoul, as well as opening regional headquarters in the Middle East and the US. The new facilities in Brentford mean that we can continue to deliver world-class sales and technical support at a local level both now and in the years to come.”

Training Room 3

Last year also saw Sean Um join the IDIS Europe team following an eight-year tenure at the IDIS global headquarters in various product and sales roles. In his new position as product manager, Um works closely with system integrators, installers and end users to drive the IDIS product road map. His remit is to work at a local level to understand the needs of European customers and ensure a continuous cycle of innovation that builds upon the IDIS signature of easy-to-use and high performance surveillance.

Song, added: “Since joining us last year, Sean has been instrumental in liaising with our product planning and development team in South Korea. His appointment has ensured that we continue to bring new products and technologies to market that deliver improvements upon common industry offerings that strengthen security and improve the user experience.”

IDIS will showcase its core technologies, including the flagship DirectIP offering (a true plug-and-play solution that eliminates the complexity of installing and operating networked surveillance), at this year’s IFSEC International. The show runs at London’s ExCeL from 20-22 June. IDIS can be found on Stand G700. The business will be celebrating 20 years of innovation.

IDIS and 4Sight Imaging unveil “groundbreaking” ANPR solution for end users

Global surveillance solutions provider IDIS and 4Sight Imaging – a leading imaging technology company – have announced the successful integration of DirectIP with Veracity, a powerful and intuitive Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) software engine.

Proving “ten times more accurate” in independent comparative testing, the IDIS and 4Sight solution combines leading image analysis technologies with next generation DirectIP HD cameras, in turn leveraging the latest system architectures and advances in solid state lighting to allow a wide, multi-lane field of view that’s accurate across a wide range of weather, lighting and number plate conditions.

The “groundbreaking” solution eliminates the challenges traditionally associated with ANPR systems by removing complicated set-up, configuration and constant maintenance and system adjustments made possible through both companies’ patented plug-and-play technology. The end result translates to low system configuration and simple, fast deployment that delivers benefits in terms of affordability and a continued low cost of ownership for the end user.

Customers are now offered a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and affordable ANPR solution featuring:

  • “industry-leading accuracy” across a wide range of weather and operating conditions
  • high performance, reliability and image quality combined with ease of installation and operation
  • international plate recognition
  • future-proof technology that inherently leverages new developments in camera hardware, system architectures and processing power

Commenting on the new ANPR solution, Brian Song – managing director at IDIS Europe – noted: “There’s natural synergy between IDIS and 4Sight Imaging with both organisations committed to delivering high performance technology combined with plug-and-play simplicity that offers ease of installation and operation and a low cost of ownership. We can now offer exactly that in terms of an ANPR solution following the successful integration of DirectIP and Veracity.”

Brook Jackson, managing director at 4Sight Imaging, added: “The complexities previously associated with plate recognition have until now restricted system integrators from maximising the opportunities around ANPR for their end users. The Veracity solution allows our partners to grow, protects their margins and at the same time ensures end user satisfaction.  One major car parking organisation in the UK has already seen significant return on investment through improved accuracy since rolling out the solution across their national estate.”

Used by a wide range of global customers across surveillance, car parking operations and access control, the Veracity and DirectIP solution delivers a variety of tangible benefits including:

  • enhanced safety and security
  • low cost of ownership
  • increased profitability from car parking operations
  • improved surveillance operations with high quality evidential images
  • operational efficiencies through the automation of previously manual tasks
