Pelco introduces rugged Spectra Professional IR PTZ camera

Pelco by Schneider Electric, one of the global leaders when it comes to intelligent video surveillance solutions, has released the Spectra Professional IR – a rugged camera ideal for transportation-focused projects, city surveillance, deployment at airports and seaports and for use in commercial markets.

The Spectra Professional IR features an ‘above the horizon’ viewing capability providing greater coverage of bridges, overpasses and building exteriors without mounting additional cameras. The camera also provides built-in IR illumination on areas of interest such as roadways, ports, parking spaces and building perimeters up to 150 metres away, thereby offering a solution for end user customers who are perhaps frustrated with the inability of typical PTZ cameras to capture key image details in poorly lit environments.

“Thanks to extensive R&D, Pelco has honed the technology to capture critical details in low light situations,” explained Todd Dunning, senior product manager at Pelco. “Spectra Professional IR also incorporates a ‘bubble-less’ design, which is a new feature for the company’s line of surveillance technology.”

Spectra Professional IR: benefits for end users

Assuring coverage of large areas, the Spectra Professional IR camera is designed for use in round-the-clock surveillance projects.

Key features include:
● ‘Look-Up’: The Spectra Professional IR can view 15 degrees above the horizon that enables customers to see areas that are difficult to view when using typical mounting locations including bridge supports and cables, higher floors of commercial buildings as well as ships at a distance from seaports
● Outstanding image quality in poorly lit areas: Primarily used for outdoor applications with poor lighting conditions, the IR technology allows operators to see details up to 150 metres away, where external visible lighting isn’t wanted or is unavailable. The technology also provides control of the illumination intensity and exposure in the camera, thereby enabling people and vehicles to be tracked with clarity wherever they move in the field of coverage, near or far
● Smart compression technology: Featuring H.265 and Pelco’s Smart Compression technology, the Spectra Professional IR lowers bandwidth and storage requirements between 30% and 70%, depending on the amount of motion in the scene. This is especially important for 24×7 surveillance
● ‘Digital Image Stabilisation’: Reducing blurring associated with camera motion, this feature allows the cameras to maintain a smooth image ideal for surveilling areas affected by high vehicle traffic or strong winds like bridges and light poles
● Simple installation: Using only one wire to connect, the Spectra Professional IR comes with three power options and an embedded hinge design, making it easy to connect to and providing greater flexibility during installation
● Full integration with VideoXpert and ONVIF-compliant VMS: Seamlessly presented in video management systems, allowing operators to easily track objects moving in the scene and zoom in for greater detail

City of Izmir selects Samsung’s cameras to support Full Adaptive Traffic Management system

Izmir, the third most populous city in Turkey with a population in the region of 2.9 million, has deployed Samsung cameras in support of its Full Adaptive Traffic Management system which provides real-time integrated traffic management as a means of reducing  traffic jams and increasing road safety.

The Samsung SNP-6320H Full HD 32 x optical zoom PTZ speed domes installed at key locations throughout the city are providing HD images in support of field devices such as detectors, signal transmitters, traffic signals and control devices.

Collectively, they provide the ability to measure the volume of traffic at crossroads and enable signal times to be adjusted in real-time in order to minimise traffic congestion.

The SNP-6320H models boast an auto-tracking feature, are weatherproof and have heaters powered by PoE+ to withstand extremely low temperatures, as well as a Digital Image Stabilisation feature which negates the effects of vibration.

Images captured by the SNP-6320H models are recorded to Samsung’s SRN-4000 64-channel NVRs. These are able to simultaneously record and multi-stream the transmission of images at a high bandwidth speed of 400 Mbps and have a large on-board storage capacity via 12 hot-swappable internal hard drives. Power reliability is enhanced by way of a dual power supply.

Camera images are transmitted to a dedicated Control Room. They can also be viewed by the general public via TV, the Internet and social media channels.

The Samsung SNP-6320H speed domes are also helping the city of Izmir to monitor the movement of public transport and Emergency Services vehicles. In total,1,500 buses as well as 100 ambulances and 164 fire trucks will wirelessly communicate with signalised crossroads and their movements monitored with the help of the speed domes as part of a traffic priority system.

The Full Adaptive Traffic Management system has been implemented by EDS Elektronik (a Samsung distributor)in collaboration with systems integrator Mavi Güvenlik.

Samsung Techwin introduces 32x Full-HD auto-tracking PTZ speed dome cameras

Samsung Techwin’s confidence that the latest addition to its WiseNetIII video surveillance solution range will become the preferred PTZ dome camera solution for challenging environments has been boosted by news that the SNP-6320RH has been selected as a finalist for the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2015.

The SNP-6320RH Full-HD (1920×1080) auto-tracking speed dome has built-in IR LEDs which illuminate objects at a distance of up to 150 metres by focusing the beam as the camera zooms.

These models are also equipped with an IR corrected lens to ensure sharp night-time images even under mixed lighting conditions, such as those occasions when IR LEDs are operating in low ambient light. These features ensure people, objects and even car number plates can be clearly seen in total darkness. The cameras’ ability to perform such a function is enhanced still further by a 32x optical zoom capability.

Samsung Techwin’s design engineers have packed the SNP-6320RH with a long list of additional innovative features, among them auto tracking which enables trained CCTV operators to monitor the movement of people or vehicles while remaining hands-free to control other cameras.

“The SNP-6320RH is an excellent example of how Samsung Techwin is working closely with installers, systems integrators, end users and business partners throughout Europe in order to understand and respond to changing users’ requirements,” said Tim Biddulph, product manager for Samsung Techwin Europe.

“As a result of this co-operation,” continued Biddulph, “we have provided the SNP-6320RH with a feature set which we believe meets the needs of customers who operate in challenging environments where high performance PTZ functionality is required.”

Image capture at ultra-fast frame rates

Samsung Techwin proprietary encoding technology enables the SNP-6320RH to capture images at an ultra-fast frame rate of 60 frames per second. This ensures that operators are able to view latency-free, sharp and clear images of moving objects.

Much thought has gone into the design of the SNP-6320RH to ensure these cameras deliver “superb quality images” even in the most difficult of environmental conditions. The models are weatherproofed to IP66 as well as being IK10 vandal resistant, and can withstand high temperature variations of -50°C to +55°C.

These cameras are equipped with a Defog feature which improves the clarity of images captured in poor weather conditions such as rain, smoke or fog. Also, Digital Image Stabilisation negates the effects of vibration if the SNP-6320RH should be installed in exposed locations.

The Open Platform WiseNetIII DSP chipset at the heart of the ONVIF-compliant SNP-6320 enables these cameras to play a key role in providing end users with a bespoke video surveillance solution.

The processing power of a WiseNetIII DSP chipset enables the cameras to run edge-based applications – such as ANPR, video analytics, facial recognition, people counting and perimeter protection solutions – which can be downloaded in a similar way to adding apps on a smart phone.

Most Open Platform cameras currently available can only run a single application, but the processing power of the WiseNetIII DSP chipset provides customers with the option to run multiple apps at the same time.

As is the case with all Samsung Techwin video surveillance solutions, the SNP-6320RH is offered with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe, including a free system design service with full technical assistance and a three-year warranty.
