Ward Security approved for Community Safety Accreditation Scheme

Expanding national security firm Ward Security has been accredited by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) to join the Home Office’s Community Safety Accreditation Scheme initiative.

Introduced in 2002, the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) enables chief constables to designate certain limited but targeted police powers to the employees of non-police organisations who contribute towards community safety and security.

The scheme creates a framework for public and private bodies to work in partnership with the police, in turn providing an additional uniformed presence in local communities.

Ward Security received the accreditation after successfully completing a rigorous vetting procedure. The company’s application for the scheme was strengthened by its membership of the Security Industry Authority’s (SIA) Approved Contractor Scheme, which demands standards in the provision of security services similar to those required by the CSAS.

CSAS accreditation means that Ward Security can put forward employees to become Accredited Persons (APs) with ACPO. They can then be identified by a special CSAS-issued badge.

AP status allows a person to deal with nuisances such as littering, dog fouling, cycling on the pavement and disorder offences like anti-social behaviour.

Recognition for a professional approach

David Ward, managing mirector at Ward Security, commented: “Ward Security has always prided itself on providing the very highest level of service to its clients and the wider public. We’re thrilled to have achieved Community Safety Accreditation Scheme registration and be recognised for our professionalism by APCO. Our participation in the scheme will enhance the already very strong relationships we have forged with police forces up and down the country.”

With over 450 employees, Ward Security provides a range of bespoke, integrated and flexible security services in both the private and public sectors. Its areas of expertise include the provision of search and guard dogs, wireless intruder detection systems and concierge and reception services.

The company, which is headquartered in Rochester, Kent, boasts a client list that includes CBRE and Deloitte.

Ward Security holds a variety of accreditations in addition to the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme. The company is an inspected member of the National Association of Security Dog Users and has been awarded the Investors in People Gold standard, placing the business in the top 3.2% of Investors in People companies.
