IDIS uses latest Surveillance Summit in Seoul as platform to sharpen strategic vision for “ambitious video surveillance tech future”

The recent Surveillance Summit of international security and video surveillance specialists, hosted by IDIS in Seoul, South Korea, focused on some of the key drivers that will shape the global video market over the next three years.

The growing importance of upcoming innovations in Artificial Intelligence, recording and camera technology, network security, extended warranties and the need for increasingly powerful VMS capabilities were among those topics discussed at the event.

Delegates from around the world had their first opportunity to see the second iteration of IDIS’ Deep Learning Analytics (IDLA). Version 2.0 IDLA sets new market benchmarks with accuracy of 96% and a speed of up to 200 fps permitting analysis of 32 channels on a simultaneous basis.

Further, IDLA doesn’t need additional processing power, meaning that end users will not have to upgrade existing hardware. When IDLA becomes commercially available early next year, IDIS will remain committed to its promise of a low total cost of ownership by affording users access to both standard and advanced analytical functionality, such as appearance searching, through just one simple and affordable license.

Secure design and manufacturing

The Summit also focused on the importance of secure design and manufacturing to dispel common market concerns around ‘back doors’ and assert how the use of IDIS proprietary protocols hardens network security.

The agenda also covered sector-specific application developments in key markets where IDIS solutions are increasingly being adopted, including large-scale projects in the Asian region, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

Held over two days, the annual Surveillance Summit has grown in scope over the last three years and is now an important diary date for those attending. It’s seen as a chance to network with leading market specialists from around the world to share lessons from projects which are frequently at the cutting edge of surveillance development.

The Summit is also used as an opportunity to focus on business development, whereby IDIS works closely with its partners to refine its marketing and media strategy for the coming year, share the latest information about market trends and insights and drive product development and continual improvements in technical support.

Long-term collaboration

This long-term, collaborative approach between IDIS and its business partners is a key element of the company’s growth strategy. It’s this customer-focused drive that has seen IDIS grow continuously since 1997 to become Korea’s largest video surveillance manufacturer, with regional operations now expanding across 50-plus countries.

IDIS2018PartnerAwards

Concluding the Summit, IDIS CEO Y.D. Kim (pictured above, far right in each image) presented 2018 Business Partner Awards to three companies – namely Avix (Russia), Trinet (Singapore) and Red Office (Bangladesh) – in recognition of their commitment to a close partnership and their outstanding performance over the last year.

Collecting the awards were (pictured above, left to right): Aleksander Khrakov (CEO of Avix), Tex Tan (CEO) and Jason Tan (managing director) of Trinet and Naeem Uddin Mahmood of Red Office.

“Our three award winners, and indeed all of our partners attending this Summit, demonstrate that the surest route to success is always through collaboration,” said Joon Jun, president of the IDIS Global Business Division. “Gathered at this Summit we have a level of expertise that’s unrivalled in our sector, and we share a commitment to giving our customers the very best in video surveillance solutions. Knowing this, we can all look forward with great confidence to the year ahead.”

Milestone Systems ranked Number One global VMS provider by IHS Markit for tenth year in succession

For the tenth year in a row, Milestone Systems has been ranked as the Number One global VMS vendor by company revenue. That’s according to market research conducted by business intelligence provider IHS Markit. In 2017, Milestone Systems enjoyed a global VMS market share of 10.2%, with 9.1% being the corresponding figure in 2016.

“The world market for VMS is estimated to have grown by 8% in 2017,” said Jon Cropley, senior principal analyst for video surveillance at IHS Markit. “Supply to this market is gradually becoming more concentrated. The top largest vendors are estimated to have accounted for 48% of global revenues in 2015. In comparison, this figure was 57% in 2017.”

MilestoneDevelopment2

Lars Thinggaard, president and CEO at Milestone Systems, stated: “Milestone Systems experienced a solid VMS revenue growth of 21% over 2016, which was almost triple that of the market. There is no doubt that our open platform community and partnership business model is the reason for this positive development, and we’re proud to be a trusted and reliable partner in the community.”

Thinggaard concluded: “We will keep investing in our partner community, focusing on new technologies within cameras, access control and video analytics. We believe in a future where video will play an even more significant role in understanding data sources from the increasing numbers of devices that connect people and assets.”

Milestone Systems not only retained the Number One position globally, but also holds the top spot in Europe, the Middle East and Africa thanks to a market share that increased to 17.1% from 14.8% in 2016.

The company maintains its top position in the APAC region, with a market share of 12.4% compared to 11.7% the year before.

Finally, Milestone Systems jumped one spot in the Americas and is now ranked as second overall in the region (with an 11.3% market share compared to 9.6% in 2016).

Vista covers every angle with latest IP and analogue camera launches

Vista has just announced the newest additions to its VK2 and HDA ranges. The camera launches are supported by the introduction of the new ‘universal’ brackets which greatly simplify installation and were developed in line with ‘Voice of Customer’ feedback.

The collective aim of the cameras and brackets is to reduce installation time on site, (and therefore minimise cost). The use of the latest technology within the cameras and the intelligent product design means that “excellent quality images” can be produced and adjustments easily be made to meet future end user requirements.

The VK2 range has been developed with the customer very much in mind. The cameras are designed to reduce bandwidth and storage requirements along with minimising the time required on site for installing and adjusting the cameras.

Their ability to stream highly efficient H.265 video format, combined with Vista’s advanced Hi-Stream bandwidth reducing function, means that storage and bandwidth requirements can be up to 75% lower than that of an equivalent H.264 stream.

VistaVK2L

The VK2 cameras are available in both 2 MP and 4 MP formats and produce “crisper images” compared to those achieved by general IP cameras. This is as a result of a user-definable minimum/maximum shutter speed, true Wide Dynamic Range and IR illumination.

The VK2L range has been designed for those end users who require high quality video images delivered at a cost-effective price. These cameras reduce bandwidth and storage requirements like their VK2 siblings and, due to a wide angle lens, minimise the number of cameras required on site.

The key benefits shared by the VK2 and VK2L camera ranges are as follows:

Compatible with all modern NVRs and VMS H.265/H.264 compression formats make for a flexible system

Reduced required levels of bandwidth and storage Significantly reduced when used in H.265 mode and as a result of Hi-Stream Region of Interest which adds greater compression to areas with no motion

Ensure a much crisper frozen image User-definable minimum/maximum shutter speed provides much clearer images than general IP cameras

The launch also includes an analogue offer. The newly-released HDA cameras are capable of providing Full-HD 1080p resolution in TVI HDA format over coax cabling and provide a very flexible solution. A wide range of features make them suitable for many internal and external applications as well as providing excellent quality images without the requirement of an IP knowledge base.

The HDA range makes for the perfect transition from analogue to IP and can be used in conjunction with existing analogue infrastructure.

All of the IP and analogue cameras included in the launch are perfect for use with the Vista Viper range of NVRs and DVRs. ONVIF compliance ensures that they can also be used on multiple manufacturers’ recording platforms if existing systems are in place.

Alongside the cameras, the introduction of a new selection of ‘universal’ brackets simplifies installation and the process of selecting the correct bracket.
