Videx launches IP Intercom range for end users

Videx has launched IP intercoms that are ideal for a wide range of installations including office blocks, apartment complexes, hospitals and commercial buildings enabling the door entry system to use existing networks and save both cost and installation time.

The Videx IP system is available as a convenient kit and as an expandable system which can be customised to suit the needs of any building. 12 gauge, 316 grade stainless steel vandal-resistant entrance panels are available along with the popular 4000 Series modular style, all with a wide angle colour camera and with one call button up to a maximum of 42 and an input for an optional second camera.

Neil Thomas, national sales manager at Videx, said: “The beauty of IP systems over conventional systems is that they don’t need dedicated wiring infrastructure and can be used on new or existing networks. These networks can be shared with other technologies such as CCTV, access control, building management and many others.”

The kits includes a wall mount 6200 Series videophone and the entrance panel which is available in standard or vandal-resistant form with surface or flush mounting options. The videophone includes a touch screen 3.5” colour display enabling the end user to customise a range of settings as well as initiate calls to entrance points, neighbours and internally to other extensions with the facility to have up to 16 videophones in each apartment or office.

An event log can also be viewed on the videophone with a video capture feature to see missed callers. The kit includes a 1.25 A 12 V DC power supply which can be used to power the entrance panel, a lock release and the videophone if required. The videophone can also be powered via Power over Ethernet (POE) from a POE switch.

Thomas added: “IP systems are generally very flexible and can allow for connections over an unlimited distance while using existing LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and 3G/4G infrastructures and the Videx iOS and Android Apps. Installers are now very familiar with IP technologies allowing them to use existing knowledge and experience gained while installing other security systems such as access control and CCTV. IP systems offer greater flexibility to the installer, making it very simple to expand and alter a system as the need arises.”

Bespoke panel sizes are available upon request. Entrance panels and videophones all have two relay outputs, two inputs and RS485 connectivity which can be used for a variety of functions such as door/gate release and the activation of auxiliary functions.

Veracity showcasing end-to-end Command and Control solution at IFSEC International 2017

Veracity, a leading provider of solutions that solve real-world challenges in IP video systems, is showcasing a new suite of products at IFSEC International 2017 which neatly brings together the three cornerstones of its business: IP transmission, storage and display.

Following on from its acquisition of security Command and Control software manufacturer icomply, Veracity’s largest-ever IFSEC stand is built around a walk-through Control Room, promoting the company’s integrated security management platform powered by VTAS Pro.

Bringing together new and legacy third party video recording systems, VTAS Pro combines them with other security systems such as access control, LPR, guard tours and building management. This provides a “unified and coherent system” for the management and control of single or multiple sites, allowing system operators to be far more efficient in responding to incidents.

VTAS Pro is fully-integrated with Veracity’s TRINITY direct-to-storage architecture and, fundamental to that, the advanced COLDSTORE surveillance storage system. It also features a full video and media wall display option which can be reconfigured ‘on-the-fly’ and in response to specific incidents or emergency situations.

Live views may be mixed with playback and media streams such as broadcast news, online data streams, maps or other graphical displays.

This end-to-end Command and Control solution is highly scaleable and supports a large number of operator workstations, with shared incident management and alarm receiving co-ordination. It’s capable of handling thousands of remote sites.

The system can provide integration with access control, building management, intruder detection, VoIP intercom systems and video analytics including ANPR and facial recognition. Several native security functions can be added to the system in a modular, customisable way such as guard tour, lone worker monitoring, dispatch, alarm monitoring and key management.

Veracity will also be presenting its new HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4 Encoder Replacement Kit containing a HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4 unit, four HIGHWIRE Powerstar Camera units and a 57V DC power supply (region-specific). This product bundle is a simple and cost-effective replacement for legacy analogue video encoders, allowing the end user customer to upgrade to IP cameras by re-using the coax cable and powering the new IP cameras with PoE over coax.

*Veracity will be exhibiting on Stand F1050 at IFSEC International, which runs at London’s ExCeL Exhibition Centre in Docklands from 20-22 June

IT and security experts join forces to offer wireless access control solutions for end users

The Intelligent Technology Division of NBM Distribution – namely iTECH – is now distributing Netgenium’s IP access control solution that’s integrated with ASSA Abloy Access Control’s Aperio technology.

ASSA Abloy Access Control is a UK division of ASSA Abloy, the global specialist in door opening solutions that has worked with Netgenium to offer wireless access control as an additional option to the PolicyServer system for over two years now.

The latest Aperio wireless cylinders, PINpad escutcheon and L100 as well as KS100 have all been integrated into the IP access control solution.

Aperio is designed to upgrade mechanically-locked doors and wirelessly connect them online to new or existing access control systems. With minimal modification required for doors and premises alike, Aperio offers a cost-effective and simple security upgrade for end users.

Paul Anderson, managing director at Netgenium, said: “The alliance between our three companies is perfect. NBM Distribution and its iTECH Division understands data networking and IP technologies. It’s able to support its resellers throughout the UK who understand the physical layer from a network infrastructure perspective. For their part, ASSA Abloy Access Control’s Aperio solutions add flexibility to the PolicyServer system, providing a highly cost-effective alternative to our high-end wired solution. The Aperio solution also integrates with all other aspects of the intelligent building via PolicyServer. These include PoE audio, CCTV integration, PoE LED lighting and IP-based lighting control.”

Danny Kindell, managing director at NBM and technical lead of the iTECH Division, added: “We’ve recently expanded an innovative IP technology product range to complement our existing core capabilities of supplying data cabling solutions. Partnering with Netgenium and ASSA Abloy Access Control increases the quality of our offer by dint of providing flexible IP products that realise intelligent building management and unified communications.”

Damian Marsh, managing director at ASSA Abloy Access Control, stated: “Aperio IP wireless hubs register and authenticate with PolicyServer over the IP network, ensuring that none of the benefits of intelligent building integration are lost. Each wireless hub can support up to eight locksets via a wireless connection. PolicyServer can support multiple wireless hubs.”
