ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions names initial partner businesses for CLIQ Go

A number of security providers have signed up to be dedicated partners for the new CLIQ Go from ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY (the door opening solutions specialist).

The named security businesses include High Security Locking near Aylesbury, William Channon in London and John Planck Ltd in Chatham. By agreeing to be a CLIQ Go partner, these security providers have access to exclusive training and support from ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions to help them market and sell the platform.

Enabling SMEs to control security across their premises from a smart phone app, CLIQ Go combines mechanical and electronic security capabilities in order to meet the needs of today’s busy working environments.

The user-friendly CLIQ Go smart phone app allows business owners and authorised individuals to manage a site’s security from the cloud via a mobile phone, tablet or PC. Individual access rights can be instantly revoked or updated from these devices, subsequently enhancing security while also delivering the flexibility needed to amend these access rights ‘on the go’.

With CLIQ Go, organisations can schedule access rights to a room or area for contractors or other workers that may only be visiting a site for a specified amount of time. Furthermore, as an end user business grows, the CLIQ Go system can be easily expanded with minimal disruption.

Simon Wilson, national sales manager for ASSA CLIQ Remote at ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, said: “Issues such as lost keys can be a serious security risk. Traditional mechanical locking solutions no longer offer a robust enough solution for many modern businesses. CLIQ Go offers an easy-to-manage access control system.”

Wilson continued: “CLIQ Go is quickly becoming a very popular option for many organisations, with installers and resellers keen to stock the solution. Indeed, with just one mechanical key profile, resellers can easily keep the solution in stock for fast delivery and, with no doors to wire, installation is a straightforward process.”

In conclusion, Wilson informed Risk Xtra: “We’re delighted to welcome our new CLIQ Go partners. We’ll be providing ongoing training and support to help them maximise opportunities for promoting this innovative system to their customers.”

ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions produces Design Manual for risk and security professionals

ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, has provided professionals working on a host of healthcare and education projects with a Design Manual to manage security and door hardware maintenance.

The Design Manual is a document that provides facilities managers and security professionals with an inventory of hardware on doors throughout buildings.

Offering a door-by-door breakdown of products ensures that specifiers, contractors and facilities managers alike are all easily able to gain access to product information to ensure that all hardware is uniform and meets the latest legislation and standards.

Loughborough University, the University of Edinburgh and BMI Healthcare are just some of the organisations currently benefiting from the ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions Design Manual.

Loughborough University is benefiting from the use of an ASSA ABLOY Design Manual

One of the biggest benefits of an ASSA ABLOY Design Manual is the enhanced performance guarantee that’s awarded to every project for purchasing the complete ASSA ABLOY solution. This provides the end user customer with complete peace of mind on the reliability and longevity of ASSA ABLOY products.

Paul Johnson, commercial manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, said: “We work extensively with end user management teams to develop Design Manuals that ensure security systems, access control and door hardware are consistent across whole organisations, whether it be university campuses, hospitals or commercial buildings.”

Johnson continued: “Having a Design Manual ensures that end users receive the quality solutions they require, rather than cost-saving products that may sometimes be installed during design and build projects, but may not be of a high enough standard for continual application.”

Phil Sheppard from Loughborough University commented: “ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions reviewed the buildings around our campus to gain an understanding of our existing security systems. This enabled them to tailor security solutions that would provide better whole life costing for the university through providing quality products that reduce our maintenance, repair and replacement expenditures.”

UNION tackles unauthorised key duplication in healthcare facilities thanks to keyULTRA solution

UNION – part of ASSA Abloy Security Solutions (a division of ASSA Abloy UK) – is tackling unauthorised key duplication in healthcare facilities with its keyULTRA master key system.

Last year alone, NHS departments reported 498 data breaches to the Information Commissioner’s Office, in turn showing how data protection has become an increasing concern within hospitals.

Facilities and security managers in healthcare establishments need to safeguard confidential information and expensive medical equipment. On that basis, managing security and access control requirements are critical.

The keyULTRA master key cylinders possess one of the longest patents in the market, expiring in 2028. DuraPIN technology protects both the key and cylinder assembly from illegal duplication and permits access to authorised personnel only.

This system has successfully been installed in a number of healthcare facilities including Arnold Lodge, a medium secure psychiatric unit in Leicester, and Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham.

Craig Birch, category manager for cylinders at ASSA Abloy UK, said: “Unauthorised copies of keys and an unknown number of keys distributed to people, both within and outside organisations, are common problems for hospitals with large numbers of personnel and a high staff turnover. A copied or a lost key is an immediate security threat that could lead to data breaches and costly civil monetary penalties. Investing in keyULTRA is an effective way of ensuring that no unauthorised keys are cut, meaning that facilities and security managers are fully aware of everyone with access to each area of the building. That helps to eliminate the costly problems that could occur from compromised security.”

keyULTRA boasts enhanced features including the highest key-related security, as per BS EN 1303:2005, along with resistance to bumping, drilling, picking and plug extraction. The solution is also approved for use on FD30 and FD60 fire doors in accordance with BS EN 1634-1.

Featuring self-lubricating materials designed to enhance its resistance to wear and tear, UNION’s keyULTRA is ideal for busy environments and can also help to reduce maintenance costs.

The product has been successfully tested to over half a million cycles to guarantee performance. It employs a strong and durable key, with an easy-to-grip, oversized key bow to facilitate product use.

Assa Abloy White Paper: ‘How Can Access Control Systems Improve Security and Reduce Costs?’

Assa Abloy Security Solutions has launched a downloadable White Paper to discuss how access control systems can be a convenient and cost-effective security solution for building owners and facilities managers at a time when capex budget is often being restricted.

The White Paper (entitled: ‘How Can Access Control Systems Improve Security and Reduce Costs?’) discusses the challenging and complex issues that arise from this question.

Nojmol Islam – product manager at Assa Abloy Security Solutions and author of the White Paper – explained: “The plethora of access control systems available, be they standalone, wireless or fully integrated, can seem like both a help and a hindrance to time-constrained facilities managers and security professionals. For many buildings, it’s necessary to strike a balance between creating a welcoming environment and a secure environment – all the while factoring in budgeting restrictions.”
