ANT Telecom announces detail of strategic partnership with Motorola Solutions

Automated communications specialist ANT Telecom has joined forces with Motorola Solutions as part of its PartnerEmpower Programme to support its Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) and related communication application portfolio throughout the UK.

Motorola Solutions introduced the PartnerEmpower programme in 2010 to bring forward new opportunities for collaboration in delivering customer solutions. The programme leverages Best-in-Class mobility and communications technology, enabling partners such as ANT Telecom to collaborate with an internationally recognised brand that has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality products and services.

As part of the PartnerEmpower Programme, ANT Telecom has also extended its own product portfolio to present greater choice to its customers. Products such as Motorola’s Wave and its radio to smart phone integration, as well as its DMR radios (including trunked systems and applications) have enabled the company to further enhance its lone worker and critical alarm management solutions, thereby empowering customers to improve safety and efficiency within their businesses.

Klaus Allion, managing director at ANT Telecom, explained to Risk Xtra: “The partnership compliments our aim of providing better protection for employees and businesses through integrated communication solutions. For over 30 years now, we’ve helped organisations with a highly mobile workforce to communicate effectively with their colleagues, customers and suppliers.”

Allion concluded: “As part of the PartnerEmpower Programme, we’ll also have wider access to alternative avenues to increase market presence, drive sales and strengthen our offer. We’re very much looking forward to seeing how our partnership with Motorola continues to evolve.”

Vericon Systems launches “innovative” EmeRed device for automating emergency lighting tests

Vericon Systems – the provider of innovative building management systems and technologies – has launched EmeRed, an intelligent device that automates the process of testing emergency lighting to ensure such lighting is working when needed and help facilities managers comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation.

The intelligent device, which can be easily retrofitted, re-imagines how new technology can be created to improve safety, ensure compliance and reduce costs. EmeRed monitors the performance of every light and automatically transmits the results to a dedicated portal that can be accessed online via the cloud. This gives facilities managers, estate managers and property owners complete visibility of the status of individual lights in a single building, as well as performance trends across an entire portfolio.

EmeRed reports a range of different factors to ensure lighting is always on the top line, such as battery degradation and energy consumption. It also measures the life outstanding in each battery to ensure they’re replaced before an emergency occurs and automatically reports any potential failures or problems.

Bernard Cook, managing director of Vericon Systems, said: “The industry has been too slow to adapt to new technology and new thinking. Testing emergency lighting equipment is an important responsibility, but manual testing is often a time-consuming and therefore costly job. Using EmeRed’s smart technologies and machine learning to automate emergency lighting testing can save building and facilities managers valuable time and money, especially so in comparison to manual testing. It guarantees 100% compliance and enables real-time information to be viewed or downloaded remotely.”

EmeRed’s small, wireless design makes it extremely quick and easy to install. Once installed, the device takes just a few minutes to configure to ensure life safety systems are fully compliant. EmeRed can also be connected and integrated with other Vericon Systems products and solutions that support an entire building ecosystem.

Kentec, one of the leading manufacturers of life-critical control systems, has won the Fire Innovation of the Year Award at the second national Safety and Health Excellence Awards for its next generation Taktis 16L analogue addressable fire panel.

The Fire Innovation of the Year Award celebrates products or services that demonstrate genuine innovation and differentiation to other products in the marketplace. Products must have been launched after January 2017 and boast independent fire testing to support performance claims.

It supports more than 2,000 detection devices and can network up to 128 panels, making it ideal for the largest sites such as schools, hospitals and retail applications.

Kevin Swann, managing director at Kentec, stated: “We’re thrilled that Taktis has been recognised with this prestigious award that’s considered an important industry accolade. The Taktis 16L has been built with both the end user and installer in mind. As a truly open protocol panel it offers installers and their customers maximum flexibility in system design, site customisation and in the third party devices that they specify.”

Swann added: “It also protects legacy installations, enabling the extension and replacement of Syncro network systems using the Taktis bridge functionality, not to mention future investment since the panel is future-proofed with a highly impressive roadmap of additional functions, features and integration possibilities.”

This latest win follows on from the company’s Manufacturing Innovation Award at the 2018 Made in the South East Awards.
