Hadley Group brings latest batch of fencing solutions to FENCEX 2018

Hadley Group, a global manufacturer of cold roll-formed sections and profiles, will be showcasing its innovative range of fully-engineered security fencing solutions at FENCEX 2018. End users visiting the event should head for Stand 2 on Wednesday 17 October at the NEAC at Stoneleigh Exhibition Park in Warwickshire.

Hadley Group’s cold-rolled steel fencing systems provide an optimum strength-to-weight ratio ensuring maximum durability, easier handling and faster installation. The systems are designed and manufactured by the company’s own in-house cold roll-form profile design team.

On display at FENCEX will be the manufacturer’s UltraFence system, the first complete cold-rolled engineered palisade fencing system where every component has been specifically designed to optimise strength-to-weight ratio. Lighter, stronger and more economical than alternatives, the product is also generally quicker to install. The system is made up of three main components – UltraPost, UltraRail and UltraPale – to ensure an attractive and robust perimeter fencing solution.

Hadley Group’s railing system, designated UltraBar, will also be presented at FENCEX. It’s a system that has been designed for easy erection with pre-assembled panels that simply bolt into place. Featuring Hadley Group’s patented raking joint system, UltraBar affords the installer the desired angle on an instant and effortless basis.

HadleyGroupUltraFence

Aesthetically pleasing, traditionally styled and cost-effective, the railings are ideal for parks and outdoor recreational facilities.

Finally, Hadley Group will also be showcasing its UltraSecure system. This fencing system features steel slats fixed between each pale to offer heightened levels of defence, thereby providing an extremely strong and secure perimeter. The security system is available in two forms: solid for applications requiring total privacy, or perforated where good surveillance of the premises is required.

All of Hadley Group’s fencing systems are worldwide patent protected and compliant with the relevant British Standards.

HadleyGroupUltraSecure

Adam Lyness, sales manager at Hadley Group, will be on the stand to offer practical insight and product advice throughout the day. “FENCEX is a unique exhibition where we can really demonstrate our wide range of fencing systems,” said Lyness in conversation with Risk Xtra. “We can provide fencing solutions for any environment, whether that’s for a playground area or properties that need high security. With over 50 years of experience, innovation and expertise, we’re looking forward to helping visitors learn more about us and what Hadley Group’s fencing solutions can do for them.”

The only UK exhibition dedicated to perimeter security, fencing and access control, FENCEX is staged once every two years and attracts trade delegates from all over the UK and Europe. A must-attend event for contractors, specifiers, security procurement experts, local authority officers, architects, leisure facility managers, highway specialists and statutory bodies alike, the exhibition is designed to present all of the latest products and services in the field.

IDIS uses latest Surveillance Summit in Seoul as platform to sharpen strategic vision for “ambitious video surveillance tech future”

The recent Surveillance Summit of international security and video surveillance specialists, hosted by IDIS in Seoul, South Korea, focused on some of the key drivers that will shape the global video market over the next three years.

The growing importance of upcoming innovations in Artificial Intelligence, recording and camera technology, network security, extended warranties and the need for increasingly powerful VMS capabilities were among those topics discussed at the event.

Delegates from around the world had their first opportunity to see the second iteration of IDIS’ Deep Learning Analytics (IDLA). Version 2.0 IDLA sets new market benchmarks with accuracy of 96% and a speed of up to 200 fps permitting analysis of 32 channels on a simultaneous basis.

Further, IDLA doesn’t need additional processing power, meaning that end users will not have to upgrade existing hardware. When IDLA becomes commercially available early next year, IDIS will remain committed to its promise of a low total cost of ownership by affording users access to both standard and advanced analytical functionality, such as appearance searching, through just one simple and affordable license.

Secure design and manufacturing

The Summit also focused on the importance of secure design and manufacturing to dispel common market concerns around ‘back doors’ and assert how the use of IDIS proprietary protocols hardens network security.

The agenda also covered sector-specific application developments in key markets where IDIS solutions are increasingly being adopted, including large-scale projects in the Asian region, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

Held over two days, the annual Surveillance Summit has grown in scope over the last three years and is now an important diary date for those attending. It’s seen as a chance to network with leading market specialists from around the world to share lessons from projects which are frequently at the cutting edge of surveillance development.

The Summit is also used as an opportunity to focus on business development, whereby IDIS works closely with its partners to refine its marketing and media strategy for the coming year, share the latest information about market trends and insights and drive product development and continual improvements in technical support.

Long-term collaboration

This long-term, collaborative approach between IDIS and its business partners is a key element of the company’s growth strategy. It’s this customer-focused drive that has seen IDIS grow continuously since 1997 to become Korea’s largest video surveillance manufacturer, with regional operations now expanding across 50-plus countries.

IDIS2018PartnerAwards

Concluding the Summit, IDIS CEO Y.D. Kim (pictured above, far right in each image) presented 2018 Business Partner Awards to three companies – namely Avix (Russia), Trinet (Singapore) and Red Office (Bangladesh) – in recognition of their commitment to a close partnership and their outstanding performance over the last year.

Collecting the awards were (pictured above, left to right): Aleksander Khrakov (CEO of Avix), Tex Tan (CEO) and Jason Tan (managing director) of Trinet and Naeem Uddin Mahmood of Red Office.

“Our three award winners, and indeed all of our partners attending this Summit, demonstrate that the surest route to success is always through collaboration,” said Joon Jun, president of the IDIS Global Business Division. “Gathered at this Summit we have a level of expertise that’s unrivalled in our sector, and we share a commitment to giving our customers the very best in video surveillance solutions. Knowing this, we can all look forward with great confidence to the year ahead.”

Pelco introduces rugged Spectra Professional IR PTZ camera

Pelco by Schneider Electric, one of the global leaders when it comes to intelligent video surveillance solutions, has released the Spectra Professional IR – a rugged camera ideal for transportation-focused projects, city surveillance, deployment at airports and seaports and for use in commercial markets.

The Spectra Professional IR features an ‘above the horizon’ viewing capability providing greater coverage of bridges, overpasses and building exteriors without mounting additional cameras. The camera also provides built-in IR illumination on areas of interest such as roadways, ports, parking spaces and building perimeters up to 150 metres away, thereby offering a solution for end user customers who are perhaps frustrated with the inability of typical PTZ cameras to capture key image details in poorly lit environments.

“Thanks to extensive R&D, Pelco has honed the technology to capture critical details in low light situations,” explained Todd Dunning, senior product manager at Pelco. “Spectra Professional IR also incorporates a ‘bubble-less’ design, which is a new feature for the company’s line of surveillance technology.”

Spectra Professional IR: benefits for end users

Assuring coverage of large areas, the Spectra Professional IR camera is designed for use in round-the-clock surveillance projects.

Key features include:
● ‘Look-Up’: The Spectra Professional IR can view 15 degrees above the horizon that enables customers to see areas that are difficult to view when using typical mounting locations including bridge supports and cables, higher floors of commercial buildings as well as ships at a distance from seaports
● Outstanding image quality in poorly lit areas: Primarily used for outdoor applications with poor lighting conditions, the IR technology allows operators to see details up to 150 metres away, where external visible lighting isn’t wanted or is unavailable. The technology also provides control of the illumination intensity and exposure in the camera, thereby enabling people and vehicles to be tracked with clarity wherever they move in the field of coverage, near or far
● Smart compression technology: Featuring H.265 and Pelco’s Smart Compression technology, the Spectra Professional IR lowers bandwidth and storage requirements between 30% and 70%, depending on the amount of motion in the scene. This is especially important for 24×7 surveillance
● ‘Digital Image Stabilisation’: Reducing blurring associated with camera motion, this feature allows the cameras to maintain a smooth image ideal for surveilling areas affected by high vehicle traffic or strong winds like bridges and light poles
● Simple installation: Using only one wire to connect, the Spectra Professional IR comes with three power options and an embedded hinge design, making it easy to connect to and providing greater flexibility during installation
● Full integration with VideoXpert and ONVIF-compliant VMS: Seamlessly presented in video management systems, allowing operators to easily track objects moving in the scene and zoom in for greater detail

Dahua UK to open northern office in ‘partner’ city of Leeds

Dahua Technology is expanding its presence in the UK with the opening of a new office in Leeds. This is the first time that Dahua – the world’s second-largest video surveillance solutions manufacturer – has expanded in the UK beyond its existing offices in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

The new northern office will be located at the White Rose Office Park in Millshaw Park Lane, Leeds, which is around four miles south of the city centre. With its handy location between the M62, M1 and M621 and also with nearby rail connections to Leeds city centre, the new office boasts excellent transport links.

The main aim of establishing a permanent presence in the North of England is for Dahua to provide better support for its local distributors, integrators and installers, as well as to offer training locally and provide a local base for partner events and client demonstrations.

DahuaLeedsOffice

Dahua Technology’s global headquarters in China is located in Hangzhou, a city that has been twinned with Leeds since 1988. It was no surprise, then, when the company approached Leeds City Council to help the business find a suitable location for its new offices. The link between the two cities generates co-operation in the fields of business, education and culture. Last year, officials and representatives from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership visited Dahua’s global headquarters as part of a delegation to Hangzhou and Shanghai.

Dahua’s connections with Leeds and the fact that its home city of Hangzhou is twinned with the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ have resulted in links with many local companies and public bodies. “Working with a proactive organisation such as Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership really helps us, because the partnership goes out of its way to create mutually beneficial business activities,” explained Ben Perkins, head of marketing for Dahua UK and Ireland.

Perkins added: “The partnership attracts business and international money to the region, which not only makes a positive impact on the lives of the people who live and work in Leeds, but also brings a great wealth of talent into the area. This will benefit Dahua as we grow our presence in the region.”

Councillor Judith Blake, leader of Leeds City Council, stated: “Leeds has a long and prestigious relationship with China. Our trade and investment missions have helped build relationships. It’s great to welcome Dahua to Leeds as a result of this activity. We will be holding a series of business meetings in Hong Kong, Hangzhou and Qingdao to review how our cities can work together to increase trade and deliver economic growth.”

The Leeds City Region covers Barnsley, Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield and York, and has a £1 billion-plus Local Growth Deal in place to boost jobs and growth across the region. It’s home to the UK’s largest regional financial centre and has a digital technology sector now worth more than £6.6 billion.

UK’s SMBs battling average of five cyber attacks per annum

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the UK have faced up to an average of five cyber attacks in the last 12 months. That’s according to research commissioned by online encryption specialists Appstractor Corporation that highlights the growing threat such businesses face from online criminals.

A significant number of IT decision-makers in these SMBs believe they’re being put at greater risk of attack because their security software isn’t keeping pace with the sophisticated nature of the attacks with which they’re confronted.

According to the new independent report entitled ‘Under Attack: Assessing the Struggle of UK SMBs Against Cyber Criminals’. some businesses (19%, in fact) faced as many as ten attacks in the last year. IT bosses who took part in the research survey suggested that one of the major causes for concern for SMBs in the UK is that security and encryption software is aimed at individual consumers or large corporations and Governments, meaning that they cannot be deployed effectively in a small business environment.

SMBCyberSecurity

In fact, only 44% of IT decision-makers in SMBs believe that they’re able to properly protect themselves against cyber criminals using current software and systems when compared to the ability of large businesses to protect themselves.

A third believe that the UKs small business community – which makes up 99% of businesses, according to the Federation of Small Businesses – is being “forgotten about” and placed at a higher level of risk when compared to their larger counterparts.

When it comes to the level of threat faced by these smaller companies, Appstractor Corporation’s research found that 17% of companies faced at least one attack in the last year, 28% were attacked two or three times, 32% faced four or five attacks and 19% were attacked between six and ten times.

A small proportion of companies – 2% – said that their company had been targeted up to 20 times in the last 12 months.

Commenting on the report, Paul Rosenthal (CEO and founder of Appstractor Corporation) agreed that current solutions were not up to scratch. but also said that some SMBs were making themselves an easy target for criminals.

“It’s the case that SMBs are at a disadvantage in the cyber security arms race because software and platforms are not being effectively designed for them, so they have to shoehorn consumer or large enterprise-grade solutions into their company which don’t work in small businesses. IT managers and small business owners need to rid themselves of their current ideas that they are too small to be targeted and so don’t have to worry about security and encryption software. The reality is that small businesses are being targeted by criminals more than ever before. Techniques like automated mass targeting are putting them at a serious and present risk of attack.”
