Next generation models of Illustra Flex 3MP IP cameras provide “seamless video capture and viewing experience”

Johnson Controls is introducing the next generation of Illustra Flex 3MP mini-dome, bullet and box cameras with features such as P-iris lenses and TrickleStor technology to provide optimal image quality and reliability, and the convenience and efficiency of bandwidth management of the camera using Illustra IntelliZip compression technology.

Going beyond H.264 and H.265, the embedded Illustra IntelliZip technology monitors and then adjusts system streaming parameters, matching the camera’s field of view activity. The video quality is automatically adjusted when motion is detected to ensure detail quality is maintained. When activity ceases, the video adjusts and optimises the bitrate, in turn helping to reduce network bandwidth usage and video storage requirements.

The new Illustra Flex cameras feature the aforementioned TrickleStor, allowing the cameras to record video at the edge of the network even if an outage takes place. The camera will detect an interruption or stoppage and begin to record video to its SD card. Once the connection between the camera and NVR resumes, TrickleStor will then transfer the video from the SD card to the NVR to ensure uninterrupted video.

The true Wide Dynamic Range function available across the Flex family line allows cameras viewing a scene with high-contrast lighting to balance shadows and highlights in order to maintain crisp image detail. This feature is ideal for camera deployments where windows or doors are areas of interest.

The family of Flex 3MP cameras is also equipped with a P-iris lens system that works in conjunction with custom software algorithms to provide optimal image quality and sharpness in all possible lighting conditions.

“Providing a high-quality, seamless and economical video experience is at the heart of these latest Illustra Flex introductions,” said Stuart Bettle, video product marketing manager for security products (EMEA) within the Building Technologies & Solutions Division at Johnson Controls. “Whether it’s P-iris to ensure the clearest image, TrickleStor providing end-to-end recording failover or IntelliZip to maximise bandwidth, we’re focused on meeting the needs of our customers on every front.”

The small, aesthetically pleasing Flex 3MP mini-domes are available in indoor and outdoor versions, the latter IP67-rated for protection against dust and water damage and also featuring IR illumination for improved low-light viewing.

The bullet model also offers an IP67-rated enclosure that protects against dust and water damage, making it a top choice for parking areas, garages, loading docks and other areas exposed to the elements. These models also serve as an exterior solution for schools and small-to-medium retail stores, banks and office buildings.

The Flex 3MP box camera is a flexible solution adaptable for any installation or application requirements.

Abloy UK set to showcase security solutions at MLA Expo 2017

Abloy UK is showcasing its range of compliant security solutions at MLA Expo 2017, and will also be highlighting the importance of fire and escape door standards in saving lives. Taking place at the International Centre in Telford between 6-8 October, MLA Expo is Europe’s largest exhibition trade show for the locksmith and security industry.

Products being presented on Abloy’s stand include a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical systems, some of which can be integrated with smart technology.

Standards expert Pat Jefferies (commercial director at Abloy UK) will be hosting an interactive training session on compliance for escape and fire doors, while visitors to Abloy’s Stand (H2.27) can also be privy to a hands-on demonstration of the company’s new products, namely eCLIQ and the Escape Door System (EDS).

AbloyUKeCLIQ

eCLIQ is a completely electronic locking solution which uses the mechanical precision and microelectronic modules of the PROTEC2 CLIQ system. The locks within the range are both secure and reliable, with a compact waterproof design allowing for the strongest possible security.

The system also takes advantage of the core benefits of the PROTEC2 CLIQ solution, as each key is individually programmable. This solves the problem of lost keys and allows for access rights to be easily amended or deleted as required.

The EDS allows Read In/Read Out on escape doors without compromising safety or security. The solution complies with BS EN 13637 and enables delayed egress as well as controlled egress with just a turn of the key.

Other products showcased on the stand will include Abloy’s range of compliant and energy efficient electric locks, EffEff electric strikes, door cylinders, super weatherproof padlocks, rim and mortice locks and door closers.

Nedap shows latest innovation in cyber-secured access control at Milestone Systems’ Integration Expo

Nedap is playing a key role at Milestone Systems’ Integration Expo event on Tuesday 12 September in Daventry as it shows its AEOS end-to-end security solution.  The free-to-attend event affords delegates a unique opportunity to see how integrated solutions are developed, and will bring together installers, developers, integrators and specially-selected Milestone Alliance Partners including Nedap (Milestone Systems’ New Solution Partner of the Year).

In dedicated sessions throughout the day, Nedap will describe its collaborative approach with a ‘Best of Breed’ partner, namely Milestone. Delegates will have the opportunity to see first-hand how the integration between Nedap’s AEOS and the Milestone X-Protect Access Plug-In allows end users to enjoy the features of an advanced access control system inside the Milestone VMS environment. This allows operators to exchange cardholder information, monitor entrances, manage alarms and perform full video verification, all in one integrated system.

“As Milestone’s New Solution Partner of the Year, NEDAP is thrilled to be involved in Milestone’s Integration Expo,” said Jeroen Harmsen, director of product management for NEDAP Security Management. “We look forward to showing delegates how innovative access control solutions can drive opportunities for their businesses.”

NedapDigitalDoorCrucially, Nedap’s AEOS end-to-end solution provides end-to-end security, a key requirement given increasing concerns about connecting devices to the Internet of Things (IoT). An open platform is essential if all the information between IoT-connected devices is to be processed and shared with other systems.

While any system that connects to the Internet will imply a high security risk, Nedap’s solution effectively manages the risk of cyber attacks. By encrypting all communication between a card, the controller and the server, security is ensured at every level of the access control system: from the level of the door to the very core of the AEOS system.

Card readers have no role in decrypting data, for example, so secure communication between card and controller is guaranteed.

Digital certificates, meanwhile, are stored in the same Secure Access Module, in turn ensuring secure communication between controller and server.

For the first time in the market, AEOS end-to-end security offers protection against both physical and digital threats and limits the risks of attack.

More information on the end-to-end security assured by Nedap’s AEOS can be found in this video: http://www.nedapsecurity.com/news/end-end-security-helps-customers-secure-their-network
