Farsight upgrades remote monitoring station software to offer improved services

Farsight Security Services has upgraded its central station monitoring software to the latest SureView Immix CS platform, also known as ‘Immix Cloud’. The upgrade has been introduced to provide Farsight’s clients and installers with a wide range of benefits.

Those benefits include:

  • access to the Immix app for viewing of live cameras, ‘push notification’ of critical events and the Immix web portal via a smart phone or tablet
  • the ability to upload sites in bulk during the commissioning process, saving security installers a significant amount of time
  • compatibility with the majority of security systems available on today’s market

Malcolm O’Shea-Barnes, senior operations manager at Farsight, explained: “The upgrade to the latest SureView Immix CS platform has a fantastic range of benefits for our clients and installers, as well for the operators at Farsight. Our operators are now able to work even more efficiently. One of the biggest benefits is the browser-based interface that makes it easier for them to administer updates. Previously, these updates had to be applied on a machine-by-machine basis, but now they can be applied globally.”

FarsightControlRoom2015

O’Shea-Barnes added: “This also makes the machines more stable. No client software runs on the PCs at our central station, making them less susceptible to ‘freezing’. This allows Farsight operators to work without disruption, processing alarms faster than ever.”

He concluded: “At Farsight, we’re absolutely dedicated to innovation. Staying ahead of developments in remote monitoring software ensures we provide the very best security and customer service. For example, due to this upgrade we can now monitor the majority of equipment available in the current market. That means security installers can come to us for any type of site, making the connection process even more efficient.”

The upgrade is also an important development for the future of Farsight. With the remote monitoring station making exciting developments to its fault tracking platform, YourSight, the Immix upgrade will allow Farsight to use the open API to enhance the tracker still further.

Martin Finder, sales director at SureView Systems, added: “I’m delighted that Farsight chose to upgrade to Immix Cloud. Thanks to the ‘Best in Class’ large integration base of Immix, it has enabled Farsight to offer their services to the widest possible marketplace of new and installed CCTV systems. With its unique ability to scale as the monitoring centre grows, Immix Cloud will be a key component in ensuring the continued success of Farsight.”

End users urged to “experience the power and flexibility of the new Vista Q server”

Vista has announced the release of Q, the four-channel server which comes pre-loaded with four qulu licences.

The Q server brings the power and flexibility of qulu video management software to smaller installations. It supports up to four IP cameras and includes 2 Tb of onboard storage.

As your security needs grow, Q can easily be clustered with other Q devices and servers on the network to form part of a larger system.

Coupled with qulu’s 2.4.1 update, Q may be configured to prioritise failover for up to eight additional cameras in order to protect your most important recordings.

VistaQServer

Designed to allow easy accessibility and simple set up, it helps businesses reduce their total cost of ownership while continuing to provide the same qulu experience.

The 1 Gb of RAM allows 4 x 1080p real-time images to be displayed on the qulu client without affecting the recording performance. Separate, dedicated storage for the Linux OS ensures all 2 Tb of the HDD goes towards the storage of images.

Key features are as follows:

  • Experience qulu on smaller systems: Q comes with four pre-loaded qulu licenses, which is ideal for smaller systems
  • Ultimate scalability: Q can be clustered easily to form part of a larger system as your security needs grow
  • Distributed architecture: reduce the potential of a single point of failure
  • True embedded NVR: powered by an ARM Cortex A7 processor for ultimate power and flexibility
  • Compact dimensions: discreet size and quiet operation ensures suitability for commercial applications

Gary Rowden, divisions director for product management and business development at Vista, commented: “Vista’s qulu VMS has brought a whole new level of interactivity to the interrogation of live and recorded video. Q has been developed specifically to allow smaller systems to benefit from this without compromising costs. Thanks to the distributed architecture, the potential of a single point of failure can be significantly reduced, subsequently ensuring that recordings are kept safe.”

Investigation management tools enhance victor Video Management System

Tyco Security Products has introduced version 4.8, the newest version of the victor Video Management System (VMS) and VideoEdge network video recorders (NVR , in turn adding several new investigative tools to further simplify incident reporting for busy surveillance operators.

The newest version of victor enables operators to quickly build and edit video clips of a specific incident, reducing the time spent searching for video evidence from hours to just minutes.

Using the new clip builder and image editor features, operators can split, cut, crop, delete and add relevant segments of video to a clip while also adding information directly on the image to better document actions occurring in the scene.

TycoVMS

These new incident management tools make case reporting faster and more efficient for internal and external law enforcement investigations.

Operators tracking a subject can now use victor’s surveillance window recording tool to collate with ease all the related video clips into a single file to capture the entire incident, without having to collect the clips individually from multiple recorders.

All streaming video in a selected layout can be simultaneously recorded into a single clip file for export or internal viewing.

Investigation and productivity tools

“The ability to quickly and efficiently collect the right evidence immediately following an incident is a critical time saver in building a case,” said Stuart Bettle, video product marketing manager EMEA at Tyco Security Products.

“These latest enhancements to the powerful victor platform provide an industry-leading suite of enterprise-class investigation and productivity tools. The intuitive interface is designed to maximise operator time and resources in mission-critical Control Room environments.”

The new schedule clip download tool enables surveillance operators to schedule the automatic retrieval of reoccurring video clips they need to review daily, saving on bandwidth usage and freeing up operator time spent manually queuing video for download.

Schedule clip download allows users to customise the length of the clip, saving location and clip expiration. Users can also create and save custom surveillance layouts.

Beyond the standard layouts, end users can define number of rows, columns and aspect ratio and merge cells together to create the view that works best for their specific needs.

Enterprise customers can apply corporate branding to deactivated surveillance panes for added customisation options.

Additionally, victor offers enhanced camera management capabilities, including 360 fisheye camera client-side dewarping for exacqVision NVRs. Client-side dewarping records one video stream and eliminates the possibility of redundant recording, allowing users to zoom in and navigate within the image for greater detail.

End users will also be able to specify minimum and maximum camera recording rates and receive notifications on their specified levels through the VideoEdge NVR and VideoEdge Hybrid NVR Client or through victor. This gives VideoEdge customers automated recorder monitoring to ensure optimal storage capacity.
