Charter Global launches “first-ever” SR5 security-rated shutter solution to UK market

With heightened levels of security across the globe, Charter Global – established manufacturer of the Obexion LPS 1175 range of security shutters – has raised the bar in terms of security by introducing the “first-ever” SR5 security-rated shutter.

The Obexion MD SR5 is certified to LPS 1175 Issue 7 SR5 and specifically designed to provide the highest level of security available for high risk locations such as Critical National Infrastructure, military and national security establishments as well as high value public and commercial premises.

The SR5 is designed to protect against a sustained and professional attempt to gain entry using a range of handheld performance power tools for extended periods of time.

To achieve this exceptional level of security rating, the shutters have to withstand a total attack time of ten minutes using various high performance power tools including an 18 V reciprocating saw and an angle grinder.

Obexion’s ‘Lockdown’ technology means that the SR5 requires no auxiliary locking system. The ‘profiles’ lock the shutters in any stop position, fully closed or otherwise. This means the shutters cannot be forced open to gain entry, making them ideal as a first point of entry security for any facility.

The SR5 can be installed on re-enforced concrete and structural steelwork, but its lightweight construction also means that it may be installed on buildings of cultural and historic interest.

The shutters are motorised to allow controlled ascent and descent with either a 240 V/415 V motor depending on aperture size and/or duty cycle. There’s a full range of controls including push button, key and radio control or the system may be integrated into building management systems and third party alarms.

Electronic monitoring and alarm options are available for higher risk environments.

Roger Humphreys, Charter Global’s managing director, told Risk UK: “With the certification of Obexion to LPS 1175 Level 5, and with a continuing programme of product development and testing, we feel we’ve established a new benchmark for the security shutter market and we’re committed to build further on this success. We will continue to listen to our customers and develop products that meet developing risks and changing environments.”

For over a decade, Charter Global has been supplying specialist security shutters to prestige commercial properties, retail premises, buildings requiring high levels of security, those in high risk locations and critical infrastructure projects.

The company also supplies bespoke security shutters for specialist applications, working with clients to develop specific products to resist evolving attack methodologies, tool capabilities and risk status.

Charter Global’s products are LPCB approved and accredited by Secured by Design, UVDB Supplier, SMAS, SSIP, the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme and also benefit from Safecontractor accreditation.

End users urged to “energise” CCTV solutions with Xeno’s new Nitro range

Xeno has announced that it can now offer customers full HD resolution over standard RG59 coax at ranges of 300 metres thanks to the company’s new Nitro range of cameras and DVRs.

The range brings “superb” 1080P image quality to the end user at an “extremely cost-effective” price point. Available options include eyeball, bullet and vandal-resistant dome cameras, as well as 4, 8 and 16-channel DVRs.

In order to allow integrators a seamless transition to the Nitro range, the DVRs operate in exactly the same way as the XDR960 range with no additional training required.

The same Central Management Software can be used to connect to these and also the range of Xeno IP NVRS. The Nitro range affords integrators “the perfect opportunity” to upgrade their existing analogue customers to Full HD resolution.

Xeno product manager Bob Forehand told Risk UK: “Nitro allows integrators to offer their customers the advantages of Full HD resolution, but without the complexity of IP networking. In addition, they can use any existing coax cabling. thereby keeping costs to a minimum and simplifying the overall upgrade process.”

Forehand went on to comment: “As these cameras are dual format AHD and 960H, integrators only need to stock one type of camera to be able to service both old and new installations. This is an extremely exciting development in the analogue world and offers end users a cost-effective upgrade path to Full HD.”

Guard Suite offers a reliable solution for use in low-traffic areas such as after-hours monitoring of retail outlets and offices, parking zones and other unattended areas where reliable motion detection is needed.

In addition, other video motion detection features are available through Axis’ application development partners. These provide a broad range of video analytics that work with Axis’ network video products.

Guard Suite provides robust detection as video analysis is performed directly on the camera’s uncompressed video stream and supported by dedicated False Alarm Filtering technology for high reliability.

In total, Guard Suite offers three applications:

*Motion Guard: For general motion detection, typically on premises that are supposed to be empty after hours (eg parking areas and construction sites, etc)

*Fence Guard: For the protection of a fenced-off area by detecting attempts to climb or sabotage the fence

*Loitering Guard: For detecting suspicious behaviour in semi-public areas where loitering may pose a security issue

Guard Suite is designed to be installer-friendly. The applications are downloadable from the Axis Camera Application Platform gallery and easy to install and configure, with an intuitive user interface, contextual help and smart configuration options. A quick, five-step set-up wizard guides the installer through calibration, area, filters and custom profile settings (eg for night-time and windy days, etc)
