BSIA members to showcase latest innovations at IFSEC International 2014

Members of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) are looking forward to showcasing the very latest in innovative security technology before an impressive audience of international buyers and specifiers as IFSEC International makes its return to London next week (17-19 June).

The show’s relocation to London’s ExCeL has enabled exhibition organiser UBM Live to rejuvenate the show’s format, with the introduction of new features and opportunities for networking both during the show and after hours.

Learning, education and training still form a key element of the event’s format, with many BSIA spokespeople scheduled to take part in keynote sessions as part of the IFSEC Academy Conference Programme.

Meanwhile, several members of the BSIA’s Lone Worker Section will be showcasing the latest safety devices and smart phone apps at Safety and Health Expo, which runs alongside IFSEC International as part of UBM’s wider Protection and Management Series. There’s free entry to all IFSEC ticket-holders.

“There’s certainly a buzz of excitement in the air as we count down to IFSEC International’s return to London,” commented James Kelly, CEO of the BSIA (the trade body representing the UK’s private security industry). “With an impressive number of delegates from across the security buying chain already pre-registered to attend, the BSIA and its members are looking forward to a busy few days.”

UBM Live’s group marketing manager Ruth Galpine has confirmed the positive outlook for 2014’s event. “Pre-registration for IFSEC International is looking incredibly healthy,” said Galpine, “with current figures tracking at 45% up year-on-year. This is due to the re-location to London, opening the event up to end users and international visitors, both of which we’ve seen a huge increase in, plus all of the new visitor features, education and customer experience initiatives that UBM has put in place for this year.”

BSIA members’ activity at IFSEC International 2014

The BSIA itself has a full schedule of activity planned for its stand, which was announced by the Association earlier this month.

HDcctv Alliance to present ‘The Future of HD Surveillance’ at IFSEC International 2014

Surveillance video standards organisation the HDcctv Alliance will present a seminar focused on the future of HD CCTV in smart buildings on the first morning of IFSEC International 2014 in London.

Many major manufacturers have recognised the end user demand for HD video, whatever the transport technology. Hence they have embraced HD-SDI alongside IP cameras.

Now, with the 2014 ratification of two new HDcctv standards, the options for providing end users with a High Definition surveillance system are greater than ever.

What, though, does this mean for CCTV system designers and specifiers? Are HDcctv cameras cost-effective in IP-based systems? What are the ideal situations in which to choose megapixel IP cameras instead of HDcctv cameras? What will the HD system of the future look like?

These questions and more will be addressed during the HDcctv Alliance seminar, which takes place at 11.30 am on Tuesday 17 June in the Smart Buildings Theatre, part of the IFSEC International Academy conference programme. Attendance is free for visitors to IFSEC.

Designing HD surveillance for smart buildings

Todd Rockoff, the HDcctv Alliance’s executive director, will be delivering the presentation. He said: “This seminar session is ideal for anyone with an interest in the design of HD surveillance systems for smart buildings. That includes installers, integrators, specifiers, security managers and manufacturers. HD technology isn’t just limited to IP cameras and knowing why and when to make the right technology choice can be confusing. This presentation will help to make those choices clearer and provide alternatives so that end users can enjoy the best quality video for their security needs.”

Todd Rockoff: executive director at the HDcctv Alliance

Rockoff will be joined during the seminar by Giovanni Pugliese, CEO of HDcctv Alliance member Telecom & Security, an Italian company which designs and manufactures the CaP or Connettore a Pressione (Pressure-on Connector), a revolutionary and simple means of making coaxial connections.

Giovanni Pugliese: CEO of HDcctv Alliance member Telecom & Security

CaP has been awarded Best of CES and Best Design and Engineering Innovation at the Consumer Electronic Show, Las Vegas. Pugliese will discuss the ways in which the CaP can help security installers work faster and smarter.

Nedap provides social hub at IFSEC International 2014 to engage new ideas and solve challenges

Nedap Security Management – developer and manufacturer of AEOS, the first software-based security management platform – is collaborating with different security professionals at IFSEC International 2014 to solve security challenges faced by practising professionals.

Security experts such as prominent security consultants and physical security managers from leading organisations will be collaborating with Nedap in order to share their knowledge and experience with visitors during the show, which takes place at London’s ExCeL from 17-19 June.

Visitors are invited to discuss and find answers to their security challenges at Nedap’s social hub on Stand E1450. Find out more at: http://www.nedapsecurity.com/securitychallenge

“IFSEC International is a social event for security professionals to meet, find new ideas and solve challenges and that’s exactly what we’ll be offering,” explained Daryn Flynn, Nedap’s country manager for the UK.

In addition to answering questions and sharing their knowledge, prominent security experts from Perpetuity Research & Consultancy International, Atkins Consultants, CHQ Consultants, Canon and Assa Abloy will be hosting seminars on the stand to discuss current challenges in the security world (including the convergence of IT and physical security and the value of security to the host business).

AEOS Security Management Platform on display

At IFSEC International 2014, Nedap Security Management will demonstrate the world’s first software-based security management platform: AEOS.

AEOS uses generic controllers which can accommodate functionality for access control, intrusion detection, video management and locker management via software. This unique AEOS architecture allows for one truly integrated, flexible platform instead of drivers linking separate servers and systems.

The new AEOS 3.1 application builds on the usability of AEOS, giving a unified design while keeping in mind the different users. From the Configuration and Maintenance application to the Identity and Authorisation interface, AEOS maps to the way people actually work.

This also applies to AEOS Surveillance. The renewed web application affords end users a clear overview at all times. This clarity reduces the chance of mistakes, while also increasing security and responsiveness.

“The response to AEOS 3.0 has been incredible, and we’re excited for clients to experience the new AEOS 3.1 with a clear and consistent design for all applications,” explained Arjan Bouter, Nedap’s director of sales. “Our clients need to protect their people, property, intellectual assets and reputation. With AEOS 3.1, we believe customers can focus on what is most important – a secure environment.”

The new 3.1 application will be demonstrated at IFSEC International, showing visitors the possibilities for managing access control, intrusion detection, video management and locker management on one single platform within one single application.

A team of Nedap experts will be available on Stand E1450 to meet with visitors and answer any questions.

About Nedap Security Management

Nedap Security Management is focused on developing technological solutions that make day-to-day business easier. That’s why the company designs solutions to fit customers’ needs rather than offering predefined systems.

This customer-focused approach resulted in the development of the first software-based security management platform – AEOS. It’s the only fully integrated security management solution that combines access control, video management and intrusion detection on one platform.

AEOS can adapt and evolve with the growth and changes of a company as it’s an open, software-based platform using generic controllers. This makes AEOS more flexible, future-proof and easier to use than any other security solution.

World-renowned companies use it more than 37 million times a day for security and building management and controlling people flow.

More information about Nedap Security Management can be found online at: http://www.nedapsecurity.com and via Twitter (@nedapaeos)
