Showsec wins security contract with Leicester City Council

Showsec has been handed an exciting new opportunity to expand its East Midlands operation after securing a contract with Leicester City Council.

The new agreement means that the multiple award-winning crowd management and security specialists will now provide its services at many events in the city where the company’s Head Office is based.

This latest development comes as a further boost after the company recently announced similar contracts with local authorities in the two other East Midlands cities, namely Nottingham and Derby.

The Festivals and Events Team at Leicester City Council stage a wide range of culturally diverse events throughout the year, most notably the Diwali celebrations in October, the Riverside Festival in June and the Bonfire Night Celebration which take place in early November.

Significant agreement for Showsec

“This is a particularly significant agreement for Showsec because Leicester is our home city,” explained Joe Milner, Showsec’s area manager for the East Midlands.

“It’s important for us to have a close association with the city and its people because of the part they have both played in our success story over many years. We have contributed to the local economy and provided career opportunities for many local people to play key roles in our development. We’re delighted that we now have the opportunity to work with the city on this basis in the foreseeable future.”

Milner continued: “The City Council operates such a diverse range of events throughout the year, so we know that it is going to be an extremely busy, but exciting time ahead. This agreement was made possible because we were awarded a position on the ESPO National Framework 209 Event and Festival Equipment Services in the Security Sector.”

ESPO is one of the United Kingdom’s largest public sector professional buying organisations. “This put us in a strong position to expand our operation across the region,” emphasised Milner, “which we have put so much emphasis upon in the early part of 2014.”
