SPA Security and Events to relaunch as SPACES

SPA Security and Events will reveal its new range of products and services when it relaunches as SPA Complete Event Services (SPACES) at the forthcoming Event Production Show.

After 18 years of serving the industry as SPA Security and Events, the company has evolved into a service-led brand delivering an expanded offering to clients across the events sector.

“We listened to our clients, saw an opportunity and extended our offering to meet the needs of the market.” explained Tim Price, managing director of SPACES.

“SPA Security and Events has built a fantastic reputation over the last 18 years. We work with a variety of very high profile clients, delivering a broad range of security and consultancy services. However, the industry has changed, we have grown and we’re regularly receiving requests from clients to deliver additional services based on our knowledge and experience.”

Key focus for SPACES

SPACES will focus on:
• Event planning and consultancy services: safety AND security, emergency AND contingency planning, crowd dynamics and Safety Advisory Group liaison
• Security and stewarding services (including the full range of event staff, car parking and traffic management, crowd dynamics, Front of House services, First Aid and fire marshals
• Training services: the full suite of Security Industry Authority and NVQ courses, conflict management, management development and team building, etc
• Recruitment services: security and event professionals, Health and Safety staff, safety stewards and more

The new SPACES website (www.spacesuk.org) will go live on 11 February as The Event Production Show opens its doors at London’s Olympia. SPACES will be exhibiting across 11-12 February (Stand H28)

Skills for Security Common Core NOS reviewed and renamed: ‘Essential Employability’

Skills for Security, the sector’s skills and standards setting body, has announced that the revised suite of standards for Essential Employability (previously known as Common Core) have been approved by the United Kingdom Commission for Employment and Skills.

The revised suite of standards may be accessed via the Skills for Security website.

As with all National Occupational Standards developed by Skills for Security on behalf of the sector, the NOS for Essential Employability will also be freely available on the National Occupational Standards Database (which can be accessed via: http://www.ukstandards.org.uk/)

MITIE awarded £15 million contract with London Borough of Sutton

MITIE has been awarded a seven-year contract with the London Borough of Sutton that’s worth in excess of £15 million.

Under the Terms and Conditions of the contract, MITIE will deliver a range of facilities management services including security, Front of House, mechanical and electrical maintenance, building fabric repairs, waste and caretaking services across the Borough’s stock of 190 buildings and schools.

MITIE was chosen for its solution which will deliver “value for money, robust contract management and engagement with the wider community” (including apprenticeship opportunities).

Eaton strengthens security business team with three key appointments

Eaton has announced three new appointments to its security business team. Ben Harris and Stuart Francioli have taken up account management positions for North London and Scotland respectively, while Martin Tweedie has joined the company in the role of product manager.

Experience brought to the business

Hailing from Leighton Buzzard, Ben Harris is an experienced sales professional who has worked extensively in the security sector for the last seven years.

Harris joins Eaton from ADT Fire and Security, where he was a commercial security consultant. By using his knowledge, talent and expertise, he will be responsible for generating business and enhancing the profile of Eaton’s security solutions across North London.

With similar responsibilities, aims and objectives for Scotland, Warrington-based Stuart Francioli brings ten years’ industry experience to his new role. Francioli once served as a branch manager for security distributor ADI.

His most recent role was at Argus Security Systems as fire and security surveyor.

Finally, Martin Tweedie joins as Eaton’s new product manager for security products. Tweedie currently resides in Stroud and boasts a strong product management background – most recently with Siemens Building Technologies and, prior to that, with the CCTV software house Mirasys.
