NSI Scottish Region appoints new chairman and assistant chairman

National Security Inspectorate (NSI) Regional Meetings provide an important link between the organisation’s executive and its NACOSS Gold approved companies within their respective regions. Today, the NSI is pleased to announce that the Scottish Region has completed its new line-up with the appointment of a new chairman and assistant chairman.

Alan Baird, business development director of SPG Limited, has succeeded Alan Wheelans as NSI Scottish Regional chairman.

Baird brings a wealth of experience to the position having joined the security sector back in the 1980s as an apprentice with Thorn Security and working his way up through the ranks.

Talking about his new role as Scottish Region cairman, Baird advised: “The NSI Scottish Committee has traditionally been strong and its meetings well attended. Credit for this must be given to the dedication and hard work of my predecessors.”

Baird went on to say: “It will be a challenge to build on their achievements, but in securing quality speakers, liaising with the newly-established Police Scotland and by further enhancing the NSI brand in Scotland I’m sure we can achieve even more.”

Wealth of industry experience

The NSI’s Scottish Region completes its line-up with the election of a new assistant chairman, namely David Clark from ESP Security.

Clark also boasts a wealth of industry experience having held a variety of positions with a number of NSI approved companies, among them ADT, Rodgers Security and, for the previous five years, ESP Security.

Clark has joined the Scottish Committee as its technical chairman.

“By its very definition, our industry is very technical in nature,” asserted Clark. “The professionalism and knowledge of our approved companies is what makes NSI certificated businesses the market leaders.”

In addition, NSI auditor John Menzies becomes the Scottish Region’s new secretary, taking over from the now retired Jim Watson.

The next NSI Scottish Region Meeting is scheduled for June 2014.

The NSI’s Regional Network in focus

There are ten NSI regions across the UK, all offering a forum for debate, shared experiences, industry updates and discussions on Best Practice.

On average, meetings take place every six months at various locations.

Each region has a chairman and assistant chairman nominated from NSI NACOSS Gold companies within the regions.

The ten assistant chairmen also sit on the NSI’s Regional Technical Liaison Committee, ensuring technical issues raised at these meetings are reported at NSI Regional Meetings.
