The Security Institute has unveiled the shortlist of candidates nominated for this year’s George van Schalkwyk Award.
The George van Schalkwyk Trophy is awarded annually to the Institute member considered to have made the most significant contribution to security professionalism in the previous year, as decided by the Board of The Security Institute.
George van Schalkwyk was an Institute member tragically killed in a helicopter accident in Afghanistan back in 2006.
The award is made in his memory and sponsored by Bruce Braes of SSSI. Recipients receive an etched de vecchi silver dish along with a commemorative certificate.

The winner is decided by way of an online vote among the Institute’s membership, and announced at the organisation’s Remembrance Lecture which takes place this Thursday evening in central London.
Previous winners of the prestigious trophy include David Gill CSyP FSyI (2012), Ken Livingstone FSyI (2010), Bill Wyllie CSyP FSyI (2008), John Allan FSyI (2007) and Stewart Kidd CSyP SyI (2006).
