On Monday, the doors to Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre open in Birmingham for the 2012 edition of IFSEC International.

As always, this premier event is a ‘must attend’ for security managers: IFSEC Centre Stage, for example, features essential presentations on convergence, lone worker protection, intruder alarm signalling and the future of network communications.

There’s also an extremely interesting ‘State of the Security Nation’ address on Day One of the show courtesy of BSIA CEO James Kelly and the National Security Inspectorate’s Jeff Little.

Check out the latest BSIA Briefing with Amanda Beesley.

ASIS European Security Conference: a great success

The 11th Annual ASIS European Security Conference – held in central London on 15-16 April – was an exceptional event. Several presentations and a panel discussion focused on the key topic of the moment: convergence.

It’s a subject that’s on the radar for both security specialists and facilities managers looking after security.

In an intriguing development, the IPCC is calling for the right to investigate private security companies afforded policing powers.

There’s now less than 100 days to go until the 2012 Olympic Games – and the biggest peacetime security operation ever mounted on these shores.

Much of the sporting action will be taking place in and around London, of course. Speaking of which… Good news that crime is down in the City.

IFSEC International 2012 educational content is available from the FSB’s Mike Cherry and David Evans of Global Aware International. You can also read Premier Partner interviews with Redcare’s David Gummer and Barry Shakespeare from Norbain.
